Whether you apply this attitude to sports or to your professional career, “don’t miss a day” is a mindset- and one where there is no one watching, counting, or making sure you completed it- just yourself- for me, every morning I wake up to a 15 minute Outlook meeting reminder that simply says: “Outdo Yesterday” - for me it is easy to find the energy because I know I can make it- I can make a difference in healthcare- with a clear “why” we can perform at our best-

It doesn’t matter how ambitious your goal is. You get there by taking one small step after one small step. 100 shots a day. 200 words on the page. 300 pushups. Conditioning. Rehearsals. Meeting prep. Whatever reps are in your sport, your business, or your chosen field, you do them.

In the middle of flying from LA to Reno with a stop over in Phoenix.
While on the plane, I was reminded of the exchange that I had with Waylan Webb yesterday. I wrote that I had received an email from a potential client. I asked them for something and they said no but here is something else. I took that offer and then asked for something else.
They may tell me no again but one thing that I have learned is that I'll never know if they would say yes unless I ask.
That thought process was further instilled while watching the Netflix show Nascar: Full Speed. In the show, Denny Hamlin says that he took his shot and asked Michael Jordan if he wanted to partner up on a race team.
Jordan said yes and 23XI was started.
If Hamlin doesn't ask then he doesn't have that team.....
......so, I am going to ask:
1) I am looking for athletes in endurance sports willing to share their story with me as to why they are participating in these sports. Why did you choose the sport? Why do you continue in the sport? What do you hope to get from the sport? Your story matters and I want to share it.
2) I am looking for advertisers who want to be connected with a brand that is growing and trusted by the community that it engages with.
I say growing because we grew 35% in 2023 and are up 25% in 2024.
I say trusted because of testimonials like this:
Ryan Reynolds - Run Tri Bike is a wonderful platform for athletes of varying levels across multiple sports and I am a fan, both as a reader and as a subject of a few articles. Run Tri Bike handled my story with care and detail and allowed me to share my adventures with a wide-ranging audience. As a reader, I love learning about, and being inspired by, so many others who have experiences of their own and I can tell that their stories were handled with the same detail and care as my own. Knowing that Run Tri Bike is spearheaded by athletes in their own right, it's easy to see that they understand where their subjects are coming from and are able to deftly convey that to their readers.

Next week I am fortunate to participate as one of the four speakers in JumpLeads “Make a Change” program at the Boort Tennis Club.
The theme is “Let’s talk about Big Weather” and JumpLeads is hosting four seminars over the north region of the state to capture different perspectives.
“Living with water/too much/too little/how do we adapt” is our theme at Boort and I am building on Bear & Twigg’s purpose – “Sustainability with Substance” as the core focus of my presentation.
Working with the natural environment especially in times of
impactful natural events (floods, droughts) can enhance people’s resilience and
capacity while also building business profitability.
The big kicker of the forum is that each presenter has only 5 minutes to speak.
My immediate reaction was “how can this work?” How can anyone deliver pertinent information in this truly short timeframe. But in Bear & Twigg’s continuing endeavour to challenge our comfort zones and our own beliefs, I am now really excited about this dynamic and innovative “taster” approach.
What are the most important and crucial messages that must be communicated? What can I leave out? How can I use photos or other media methods to share our message?
Is this “taster” approach the way of the future. These are the questions I
have been posing as I prepare.
Although still nervous, there is now a level of excitement which comes when we
move out of our comfortable position. I am looking forward to listening and learning from the other three presenters who will be there on the day.

The 2024 AGXPE Conference has a special treat in store for attendees and their families. One of the best teaching pros in South Florida, Bobby P Petelinkar, PGA will introduce you to the game if you have never played, analyze your golf swing, give you tips on how to improve and much more. There will be 1:1 sessions for attendees or their family members to sign-up for at registration. Equipment is not necessary, but anyone is welcome to bring their own. Bobby will also be available at his Golf Academy booth and throughout the conference for you to say hello or get a tip. Please take a moment to watch this short video on this activity.
My fellow speaker, Andy Edwards, echoes a phrase that I often hear:
"We only use speakers from our own industry"
"We've found a speaker inside our company"
"The boss wants someone from our sector"
I get it. Giving the stage to one of your peers is safe and easy. They know you, you know them. They'll say the things you want to hear, and say them just like you would. Their presentation won't blow anyone's mind, or even create a ripple. Nice and predictable, if rather forgettable, just like last time... "I can't remember, who spoke at last year's conference?"
But industry speakers may also be part of your problem, the blinkered predictability that's keeping you on the well-worn path, stuck in the same old rut. They may give you a glimpse at what your competitors are doing, but they are unlikely to reveal breakthrough thinking that's just emerging from unconnected industries. They're even less likely to inspire you to veer off into the glorious powder snow of the unknown, to do something novel and brave. Wow, that would be fun!
It takes courage and ambition to be different. I have immense admiration for event organisers who have the steel in their veins to break with convention, to try something new, and to serve their audience an unexpected dish. Fortune favours the brave! Maybe next year you could give professional speakers like Andy Edwards a try.

"WE ONLY USE SPEAKERS FROM OUR OWN INDUSTRY"
-----------------------------------
As a professional speaker, I occasionally get this response when putting myself forward for a conference.
But - can anyone else see what might be wrong with this stance?
Now - I'm not suggesting you SHOULDN'T have industry specialists to help your conference audience update their skills, knowledge, and, awareness.
I am simply observing that some of the best ideas are 'Nicked' from other areas of business.
I particularly like this example:
𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝟕𝟎% 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝟏 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝟏 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.
And, as Henry Ford is supposed to have said: "If I asked what the travelling public wanted they would have said 'Faster Horses'".
Sometimes the best ideas are OUTSIDE your echo chamber.
