Job applications should only have 2 buttons: 1. Upload Resume 2. Submit Perhaps a few weed out questions to filter out unqualified candidates. That’s it. No one wants to waste 30 minutes filling out repetitive forms. Don’t ask applicants to retype everything that’s already on their resume. I recently had an interesting experience in my job search journey that I'm eager to share with all of you. After being approached by a recruiter for an opportunity that seemed well-aligned with my career, I promptly submitted my resume, filled with optimism about the potential ahead. However, the follow-up I received was nothing short of surprising. The recruiter pointed out that my resume did not "parse correctly" into their Candidate Management System. To move forward, they suggested I make my resume ATS-friendly and recommended a specific service for this purpose: https://lnkd.in/gh-CdWAe. Now, this is where things get intriguing. Throughout my career, I've applied to numerous positions and never encountered any significant issues with ATS systems parsing my resume. This recommendation to utilize a paid service to alter my resume raised an eyebrow. This leads me to wonder, is this an isolated incident, or is it becoming a trend within the recruitment process? It is a formatted table that includes all of your previous roles, starting from your most recent role to your first role. For each role, state your previous company, role title and the dates you were in that role for. Don't forget! When writing your resume, you want to put yourself in the shoes of a hiring manager. A hiring manager is going to be flicking through 100s of resumes everyday, so you must ensure it is readable and easy to navigate. Basic questions to ask before sharing your resume: 1. What is the project duration? 2. Minimum duration for which you plan to hire? 3. Which client are you hiring for? 4. How old is the client and what is its retention rate? 5. For product company just check the retention rate and ratio of contract workers to regular workers. 6. The most misused term in hiring is 'We are hiring permanent'. 7. If possible, gather information on how many workers retired serving full term. 8. Most important question to ask is 'How old is the Company'?
