Are you aware of the Sonos app fiasco, which has put the job of the CEO on the line? This is what is bound to happen when poorly designed and untested software is pumped down the Agile drain to users, most probably in the name of an MVP. If you dig into the all the issues that the new app introduced, you'll quickly see what I mean. Four lessons from the botched release: https://lnkd.in/dzTKP53R

Avi, what makes you say it’s poorly designed and untested? I feel sorry for the design team who worked on this, my best guess is they’re likely a talented group of people, and likely weren’t adequately heard by Sonos executives on their fears. Any major redesign will naturally cause some user frustration due to changes in familiarity. Sonos' real failure was launching a new app without feature parity. Like the article linked points out, if they had supported both apps until the new one matched the old in functionality, the outcome might have been much more positive.

Sad example of when the physical doesn’t match up to the digital. Such a great physical product, the app really should be killer too.

My system is Sonos but I use the music apps such as spotifys interface to control my music as the Sonas app was awful to use. I was so grateful the day I was able to link and sync all Sonos devices through Spotify. The poor app experience had me considering if I should invest in other speakers, systems! That’s damaging for a brand.

The saddest thing is that this mistake cost 100 people their jobs.
