This report examines the feasibility of using #EBSI to seamlessly recognise, verify, exchange and share #digitalcredentials between the EU and Canada, using a digital credential ecosystem that supports cross-border #recognition and #verification, with an emphasis on #identity and #trustframeworks. Our focus is on the #business and #technical feasibility of using EBSI, a system developed for pan-European #interoperability, into Canada’s provincially regulated #education system. About that "pie in the sky" vision for scalable #digitalcredentials ecosystems: "The problem is not technical. It is human." Including, among other things: "...Many education institutions continue to operate with the conviction that learning credentials are the property of the institution, as opposed to the recipient. A cornerstone of the use of the blockchain for education credentials is the belief that citizens who have completed an education programme have, de facto, also secured the right to own, and share credentials without the need to involve the issuer of the credential (or third parties)" Maybe we need to start from a more human learner-centric base, and work out from there...
