BONDI MEAL PREP, founded by Aled Barry and Kimmi Hibel, is a producer of nutritionally superior and environmentally conscious ready-made meals. Kimmi and Aled identified an opportunity to invest in new machinery that would significantly improve their workflow efficiencies and introduce new packaging formats, opening up additional sales channels. However, their business bank could not provide the necessary financing to acquire this key asset. Nexus worked with a specialist non-bank lender who understood the nature of the asset and the operational improvements it would unlock to provide the financing on a flexible five-year term. The lender moved quickly, enabling Bondi Meal Prep to acquire the new machinery. This investment will allow the business to achieve payback within 12 months, thanks to margin improvements and new sales opportunities. #SME #growth #scaleup #funding #nonbank

Seany Mc Cleary, this has been the lazy way to dress a plate for decades. If someone was monitoring this waste it would be sorted in a few days. 1. Plate is too big. 2. looks like a random selection of whatever was nearest to the chef dressing the plate. 3. looks like expensive to buy - bitter to eat leaves and pickled onions - limited popularity. Solutions. ✅ keep as separate container for garnish waste at the washup point for one week at each service. ✅ examine waste by tipping it out onto a large sheet or flat container and identify exactly what is coming back and how much. ✅ this must be done by chefs and front of house- as FOH staff can put pressure on the kitchen to 'fill the plate' or keep it going just because 2 customers a week eat it all. ✅ Cost the waste which is costing the business at all the following points. ▶️ Ordering ▶️ Receiving ▶️ Storing ▶️ Prepping ▶️ Cooking ☑️ Serving ☑️ Clearing ☑️ Waste disposal ✅ Take action - plate, presentation, cost control. Better for the business owner to simply buy the ingredients and throw them straight in the bin as that would cut out all the other costs associated with getting this food to the customer so that it can then be thrown out. Bonkers.
