Veolia will engineer and supply key technology for the Hassyan seawater #desalination plant. 💧 The second largest reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination plant in the world — and the most energy-efficient — will be built south of #Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project’s use of technology and its energy performance make it a stand-out: it combines ultra-low energy consumption and the use of #renewable energy, with Hassyan slated to be the world’s largest desalination plant powered by solar #energy. ☀️ ➡️ This outstanding achievement is the fruit of Veolia’s vast expertise in large-scale desalination, which has maximized the potential of reverse osmosis technology by reducing the amount of energy used by RO plants by a further 35% over the past decade. ➡️ Located near the Jebel Ali Wetland Sanctuary, the Hassyan plant is designed to minimize potential impacts on the #ecosystem, including during construction, and it strictly adheres to local environmental laws and regulations. ➡️ This new generation of plants at the cutting edge of energy efficiency is fully in line with Veolia's #GreenUp strategic plan, thanks to the accelerated deployment of solutions to preserve #water resources. Good luck to the ones involved in its commissioning! And warm regards to my former colleagues, I am sure they will deliver a quality work in due time, as we did on previous projects.

Waste management includes the collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of waste, together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process and waste-related laws, technologies, and economic mechanisms. Waste can either be solid, liquid, or gases, the types of waste include industrial, biological, household, municipal, organic, biomedical and radioactive wastes, ect. The waste hierarchy refers to the "3 Rs" Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, which classifies waste management strategies according to their desirability in terms of waste minimisation. The new technologies such as radio frequency identification tags, global positioning systems and integrated software are mainly used for waste collection and transportation.Waste treatment methods include physical methods, chemical methods, biological methods, thermal treatment methods, and solidification treatment methods. The final solid wastes disposal (The pollutants in liquid waste will eventually be disposed in the form of solid sludge) will be carried out in the form of marine disposal and land disposal. Marine disposal refers to be discarded in the deep sea, while land disposal includes land cultivation, engineering warehouse storage, landfill, and deep well injection.
