We had a great time advocating for our patients as part of the National Association of Community Health Centers day of action in D.C. Thank you to the offices of Representative Barragan, Representative Ted Lieu and Representative Kamlager Dove for discussing with us the importance of sustainable and long-term funding for community health centers.

England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Sir Chris Whitty, has released his 'Health and Cities' report, following a fact-finding mission in the east of the borough. The report notes “What sets Mulberry Junction apart is its comprehensive service model and its commitment to accessibility and immediate support with as few barriers as possible.” 🏗️ New housebuilding and a health centre at Walter Tull House, which “focuses on delivering new, better, and healthier homes, places, and services.” 👪 Community support group ABC Parents, who run classes and workshops in Haringey’s most deprived areas to “increase accessibility, reduce stigma, and establish advocacy for the most vulnerable families.” Read more: https://bit.ly/3D6Yc4s

As cited by Korah, Nunbogu and Ahmed (2023): “Equitable access to health care for everyone is a fundamental goal of the SDGs (UN, 2015). However, there are marked spatial inequalities in healthcare access in Ghana (Peprah, Budu, Agyemang-Duah, Abalo, & Gyimah, 2020; Stewart et al., 2016; Yawson et al., 2017). Recently, a number of initiatives have been made to lessen these access to healthcare disparities. Prominent among these are the free maternal health care program (Witter, Adjei, Armar-Klemesu, & Graham, 2009; Azaare, Akweongo, Aryeetey, & Dwomoh, 2020; Dalinjong et al., 2018a, Dalinjong et al., 2018b), the national health insurance scheme to eliminate financial obstacles that restrict access to and utilization of healthcare (Dixon, Luginaah, & Mkandawire, 2014; Witter & Garshong, 2009), and the construction of health infrastructure to serve deprived areas. Despite these interventions, available evidence has established a strong relationship between socio-economic inequalities and healthcare access and utilization in Ghana (Fenny, Asuman, Crentsil, & Odame, 2018; Kuuire, Bisung, Rishworth, Dixon, & Luginaah, 2016; Novignon, Ofori, Tabiri, & Pulok, 2019). Even when health facilities are available, geographic accessibility – defined here as the distance and time spent accessing health facilities – has been identified as a critical challenge (Agbenyo, Marshall Nunbogu, & Dongzagla, 2017; Ashiagbor, Ofori-Asenso, Forkuo, & Agyei-Frimpong, 2020).” We are privileged at ResQ World to contribute to ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare in the nation through our free medical screening efforts. #healthcare #communitydevelopment Prosper Issahaku Korah, Abraham Marshall Nunbogu, Abubakari Ahmed, Measuring access to health facilities in Ghana: Implications for implementation of health interventions and the Sustainable Development Goal 3, Applied Geography, Volume 158, 2023, 103026, ISSN 0143-6228, https://lnkd.in/evzNhTpb. To the glory of God, our urban missions took place as scheduled. It was rewarding to see beaming smiles on the faces of both children and adults, as we demonstrated the matchless love of God to members of the Pokuase-River side estate community through sharing of the Gospel, free health screening and clothe bank. It was a time of deep reflection and joy for volunteers, as participants went through free health screening and were spoilt for choice at the clothe bank section. We are very grateful to our medical and non medical volunteers, our partners and all other stakeholders who made this possible. We look forward to another impactful engagement during our rural outreach in June. Details will be communicated as soon as possible. It will be a delight to have you join us once again or for the first time when the time comes.

🧡 Honoring Truth, Reconciliation, and Community Health🧡 Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the legacy of residential schools and honor the survivors, the children who never came home, and their families. This day also marks Orange Shirt Day, a time to raise awareness about the lasting intergenerational impacts these institutions have had on individuals, families, and entire communities. At AMS, we recognize that reconciliation is essential to the well-being of the communities we serve in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. True reconciliation means not only reflecting on the past but also taking meaningful steps toward healing. We remain committed to providing compassionate, accessible healthcare to northern communities, acknowledging the historical trauma, and supporting the path forward. In regions where access to healthcare can be a challenge, we strive to bridge the gap with cutting-edge technology, compassionate care, and strong community partnerships. Together, we’re making a real difference, one patient at a time. 🧡 We encourage everyone to take the time today—and every day—to reflect, listen, and learn as we work toward a brighter, more just future for all. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay #CommunityParamedicine #AirAmbulanceTeam #ACCESSAirAmbulance #AdvancedMedicalSolutions #TogetherForAHealthyNorth
