🌱 DTU Sustain researchers Peter Kjeldsen, Julie Maria Falk, and Charlotte Scheutz have in their BioMet project examined reduction of methane gas emissions from Danish pig farms. The research focused on installing a filter on a specific pig farm in Gilleleje where the results have exceeded expectations! 🌟 🤝The project is a collaboration with COWI, SEGES Innovation, Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, and PFH Miljø og Anlæg. 🔬The research will continue in BioMet 2.0 where further research on methane gas reduction will be conducted on more pig farms in Denmark #DTU #TechnologyForPeople #Methane #Engineering #Sustainability #Innovation #SDGs2023 #greenhousegases #ClimateAction
In the winter of 2022, DTU established a full-scale biofilter at a pig farm in Gilleleje. The filter breaks down the extremely potent greenhouse gas methane from the manure. And the results from the biofilter far exceeded the expectations. The BioMet project has demonstrated that biofilters can be a cost-effective technological solution for reducing methane emissions from slurry tanks, and the results are so promising that the research group has now been granted additional funding for technology maturation. “The new grant enables us to continue to monitor the biofilter in Gilleleje and later this year establish two more biofilter plants at other pig producers,” says Charlotte Scheutz , Professor and head of the project. Read more https://l.dtu.dk/3ZI6lFD Læs mere https://l.dtu.dk/4gfFbem In addition to DTU, partners included COWI, SEGES Innovation, Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, and PFH Miljø & Anlæg. The project was supported by the Danish Agricultural Agency's GUDP programme and ran from 2020 to 2023. #DTUdk #TechnologyForPeople #Engineering #Sustainability #Innovation #SDGs2030 #greenhousegases

I'm excited to see that the #MiraiScreen is able to contribute to project VitiCULT. #ClimageChange is already impacting when, where, and how crops can grow. In this context we have adapted #MiraiSolar 's #PV Shade Screen to mitigate these negative effects. Like many #Solar companies we focus our efforts on producing #Renewable #energy , but this project has allowed the Mirai Screen to showcase its multifaceted capabilities. The #MiraiScreen blocks most of the sunlight, only allowing a fraction through, this protects the vines from increased temperature all while producing energy. #MiraiSolar #PV #Agritech #Agrivoltaics #RE #RenewableEnergy #Solar #CleanTech #GreenTech #Climatech #Photovoltaic
Tomorrow morning, Christian Weinmann from #sbpsonne will give a lecture on the topic of “Wine and sun: agrivoltaics in the vineyard”. In this context, he will introduce the project VitiCULT, which is based on a modular lightweight construction and is intended to help adapt viticulture to changing climate conditions. The lecture is part of the Bauzentrum Online Forum: “Photovoltaics 2024: Trends and Future Prospects”, in which experts share their insights into the latest approaches and developments in the field of photovoltaics. Tomorrow I will talk about how regional schemes could contribute to making the CRCF Regulation operational. To overcome the risks of non-permance, and to recognise the value of the multiple co-benefits that sustainable farming practices can deliver, it is vital that financiers and operators work together in partnership. In the Project Credible, we welcome experts to participate in several Focus Groups, to help develop recommendations to the European Commission and to participate in the next European Carbon Farming Summit (March/2025).
🌍 Introducing Our Speakers for the Roundtable Discussion 🌎 We are excited to announce that Ricardo Beck, Coordinator of Project Credible will be speaking at the "𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" online discussion, co-organized by i-BEC and reframe.food. 🎯 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐤: Ricardo Beck is one of the coordinators of CREDIBLE, a platform linked to the European Commission for moderating the network of initiatives/ projects/ stakeholders in carbon farming with the aim of ensuring transparency, environmental integrity and methodological standardisation in soil carbon accounting in the EU. He is part of the European Commission's Expert Group on Carbon Removals and leads various activities related to the development of fit-for-region carbon farming schemes and context-adapted MRV solutions. In this week's Newsletter: Impact Case Studies 2019-2024 Robert Gross et al. As part of our 'UKERC at 20' celebrations, we have produced a series of case studies that show how UKERC has made a difference to UK energy research and policy in our current funding period. It explains why each one is important, what the UKERC impacts are, and provides underpinning evidence. Four Myths About Vertical Farming Debunked Dr Zoe M Harris Vertical farming is growing in popularity. Challenges to its growth include high costs and energy consumption, but renewable energy sources can mitigate this. This article explores four common myths, and highlights that whilst it is not a complete solution, it enhances food security and resilience in the face of #climatechange. New Research on Neurodiversity in the Energy Sector Vanda Papafilippou Vanda recently attended UKERC's 'Diversifying the Energy Sector' event. In this blog she highlights a project on #neurodiversity in the energy sector that she is working on. The article includes videos about the project and a call for participants in the IGNITE Network+ funded initiative. Plus #jobs, #funding and #events ⚡ ⚡ bit.ly/4dlb0lq
