Today morning, I visited the Zero Dig Farm at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), witnessing firsthand their pioneering sustainable farming practices. The Zero Dig approach not only enhances soil health but also promotes biodiversity and resilience against climate change. It allows for healthy crop growth without disturbing soil structure, reducing erosion, and preserving vital ecosystems. The visit was truly eye-opening as it highlighted the key role this approach plays in sustainable agriculture: - Increases soil microbial activity and nutrient retention. - Boosts biodiversity by creating diverse planting environments for beneficial insects and pollinators. - Helps combat climate challenges by retaining moisture and reducing the need for chemical inputs. The discussion about the future of #agriculture is often driven by fundamental(ist) positions. Is the use of chemicals good or bad? What about genetically modified crops? Most of the controversy revolves around the type of inputs, rather than the desired outcomes. That's why I want to talk about #regenerative agriculture at the #SustainabilityWorldSummit in Frankfurt on June 6, because "regenerative" is an outcome, it should be measured by impact and puts soil health at the center of the discussion.
