We are thrilled to introduce AQUAHUB, a pioneering project transforming the future of sustainable, community-driven aquaculture! 🌊 In collaboration with the Zanzibari government, AQUAHUB is leading the way in regenerative farming of the sandfish sea cucumber, which is in high global demand. The sandfish (Holothuria scabra) is currently listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List due to overexploitation and habitat degradation. AQUAHUB is working to reverse this decline by establishing an eco-friendly hatchery focused on sustainable sandfish juvenile production. Through community-led sea ranching in natural habitats, we aim to restore wild populations and rejuvenate vital seagrass ecosystems. This initiative not only strengthens the livelihoods of Pemba's coastal communities but also plays a key role in fostering a thriving Blue Economy in Zanzibar. ▶️ Swipe through the visuals to discover why sea cucumbers are called the "Earthworms of the Ocean," explore our community-centred approach, and see how the AQUAHUB initiative is making a lasting impact on people, wildlife, and the health of our ocean. 🔗 For more insights visit https://bit.ly/3wmD7zB #reef-positive Seacucumber Consultancy pty. 👋 We are pleased to welcome France Valley to #OBC ! We are excited to have them on board as we collaborate to create a framework that enables organizations to support #biodiversity restoration and protection. France Valley will play a crucial role, particularly in the temperate forest working group, which develops a taxonomy of practices that have a positive impact on biodiversity. At the same time, France Valley will contribute its expertise to the market group, where OBC partners with EY to effectively establish a #market that drives investments in biodiversity. Together, we aim to develop a #roadmap and define claims linked to biodiversity that will help companies achieve the Kunming goals. 📢 "Biodiversity has been at the heart of France Valley's mission, guiding our sustainable approach to forestry, viticulture, and agriculture. Partnering with the OBC strengthens our commitment to safeguarding the planet’s essential ecosystems as well as ensuring biodiversity remains a key focus in global dialogues." - Camille Constant head of ESG

🌿🌊 🇲🇬 The first National Workshop for the Sustainable Development of Seaweed Farming in Madagascar will take place on October 10 and 11 in Antananarivo. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, with support from the Integrated Growth Poles Project (PIC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Global Seaweed Coalition (GSC), the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IH.SM), and Ocean-Farmers, this event focused to assess the current state of the seaweed farming sector in Madagascar and discuss its evolution towards a sustainable model. 🌍 International actors involved in the "seaweed revolution" and scientific experts from around the world were also invited to share their experiences and insights on the challenges of this evolution. 🚀 ✨ The seaweed farming sector offers significant export potential for Madagascar and represents an opportunity for economic and social development for coastal communities. Currently, the annual production of dried seaweed is approximately 3,000 tons with an estimated export value of $3.5 million USD, and Madagascar aims to increase this volume tenfold by 2030. #SeaweedRevolution #AtelierAlgocultureMada #PIC #usaidMadagascar #MPEB #IHSM #OceanFarmers #BlueEconomy #aquaculture #nosymanga #Toekarena_manga #Seaweedrevolution #resilience #Madagascar #SustainableDevelopment #coastalcommunities #seaweedfarmer #development #economicempowerment #seaweedfarming #SDG1 #SDG5 #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #EmpoweringWomen #Inclusion #EndGenderStereotypes #SDG8 #SDG14
