Every time I mentor someone, I’m reminded that growth is mutual. Here’s why... Yesterday, I had the chance to speak with a group of college entrepreneurs at my Alma mater University of Maryland Baltimore County. Every time I do this, I’m reminded how much 𝐈 learn from 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦. Mentorship is truly a two-way street. 𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠. And in the process, we grow ourselves. I’ve come to realize that 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 helps others, but also solidifies your own understanding. Seeing someone else grow? It’s a reminder of how far you’ve come. 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: —-> Teaching strengthens your knowledge. —-> Watching others succeed helps you see your own progress. —-> It pushes you to stay sharp and keep learning. Mentoring isn’t just about sharing what you know. It’s about growing 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. Who’s had the biggest impact on your growth—either as a mentor or mentee? 𝐓𝐚𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰. *also , peep the 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐠 & 𝐓𝐨𝐚𝐝 t-shirt! I talk analogies in my businesses all the time and Frog & Toad are often an anecdote I rely on. ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ ♻️ Repost if you found this helpful ✚ Follow Patrick Rife for more entrepreneurial insights and motivation. 💜 If you liked this post, sign up for Ground Control, my weekly newsletter. ✍ I write about Entrepreneurship, Community Building and Self-awareness. 🔗 The link to sign up is on my profile. #founder #entrepreneur #business #startup #leadership #communication

I have always valued the importance of mentorship. I’ve had great mentors to help me advance my career, and I’ve seen how fulfilling it can be for former entrepreneurs to mentor up-and-comers. I genuinely believe it’s a mutually beneficial relationship! If you’re retired or have sold your business, here’s how becoming a mentor can bring value to your life: ➡️ Expand your network - Building connections with entrepreneurs or executives can open doors to new ventures, partnerships, and professional relationships. ️️➡️ Gain new perspectives - Mentorship is a two-way street. Engaging with current owners can expose you to fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. ➡️ Expand your impact - There’s something profoundly fulfilling about guiding others to success. Mentoring allows you to leave a lasting, positive mark on someone’s entrepreneurial journey. What are your thoughts on and experience with mentorship? Leading with lessons, growing with gratitude. 🌱 As a founder, I’ve come to realize that teaching doesn’t just happen in classrooms, and learning doesn’t end with a degree. In this ever-evolving entrepreneurial journey, every day presents new lessons. Teachers appear in many forms—mentors, team members, customers, and even competitors. They teach us patience, resilience, the art of failing forward, and the importance of constantly evolving. Whether it's that one professor who believed in my vision, or the employees who challenge me to grow as a leader—each has left a lasting impact on how I lead today. On this Teacher’s Day, I’m reminded that the best teachers don't just give answers—they inspire us to find our own. To all the mentors, formal or informal, thank you for shaping not just our minds but our entrepreneurial spirit. Here’s to the ones who taught us to think big, act boldly, and never stop learning. 💡🙏 #Elecomedia #TeachersDay #FoundersJourney #LeadershipLessons #Entrepreneurship #LifelongLearning #MentorshipMatters #Gratitude

Facing Truth About The Value You Bring Is Hard ⤵ Before aligning with my purpose, I was just another [___fill in the blank___] Although I resisted that notion for years, I really was swimming in the red sea of sameness. It was the truth. Then one day during lockdown, homeschooling my son, it hit me like a lightening bolt. The world was changing and I needed to change with it. Fast-track a few years, I now lean into my purpose. I am now driven as a youth entrepreneurship coach. Creating impactful transformational experiences with every young person I get to speak with. Now when I am asked "What do you do?" I proudly state: “I empower the next generation to be architects of their lives and catalysts for change through entrepreneurship and responsible innovation.” Since drawing this line in the sand, I’ve had incredible conversations with truly inspiring individuals. I'm diving deep into this developing this mindset through my MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship & Technology and I'm in the process of developing Impact Innovation Workshop series for young adults, teams, entrepreneurs and educators. It took a shedload of self-reflection, life-choice-questioning and truth-facing to get to where I am today: and that I believe is the work, right there. It's not easy looking at yourself in the mirror and asking "Who Am I and What Do I Do?" So, my truth today is: I have so much bring to the discussion of youth education and I have so much to learn. And oh my, it's going to be one hell of a ride 🌞 One thing is for certain: Change isn’t just on the horizon—it’s happening now. #Reflection #Purpose #Purpose #Changemaker #Mindset #RethinkEducation #Entrepreneurship #Education #Allstarpreneurs

Had a great meeting with my mentor, Gautam Rajesh Shelley ⚡️ founder of AiSensy and it reminded me just how invaluable mentorship is for any founder. Mentorship isn’t just about receiving advice, it’s about gaining perspective from someone who’s walked the path before you. Gautam’s insights into navigating challenges, especially around fundraising and scaling, have been game-changing for me. His ability to ask the right questions and guide me through tough decisions has helped me see things from new angles. For founders, having a mentor means having someone who can help you avoid common mistakes, push you beyond your comfort zone, and encourage growth at every stage. It’s not just about solving problems; it’s about continuous learning and evolving as a leader. If you’re a founder, seek out a mentor who aligns with your values and can help you navigate the unknowns. It’s one of the best investments you can make in your journey. Youtube video out soon. Stay Tuned! #Mentorship #StartupLife #FoundersJourney #LearningFromTheBest #Entrepreneurship

Craig isn't just a visionary leader – he's a core mentor in our Elevate and Scale Advisory programs, driving positive change and growth in his mentees. Why Craig mentors: "Entrepreneurship is about tackling real problems. But the journey can be lonely. That's why I value We Are Emersyn's support system for founders. Which path is most realistic for you? Here are few indicators... If you’ve had a long, successful career in your field, you may have the experience necessary for entrepreneurship and might not need to find a dedicated mentor (but it can’t hurt). Bonus points for putting in time with leadership positions. If you’ve spent a few years at a desk job but have realized that the 9 to 5 grind is not for you, then mentorship might provide you with the escape you need. If you’ve attended a prestigious school with access to the latest innovative technologies, then you may already have the chops for entrepreneurship. (I highly recommend you still seek the company of a mentor if you’re in this position.) If you’re feeling the squeeze from inflation and need a side hustle to earn extra income, you’ll still likely need to find someone older and wiser to call on for the occasional piece of advice. They can help you navigate the hidden dangers—and advantages—of entrepreneurship. #e2E #KnowledgeIsPower #DecadesInIndustry #ExperienceMastery #LeverageWisdom #SeasonedMentor #LeadershipBonus #Escape9to5 #PrestigiousSchoolAccess #InnovationChops #SideHustleSqueeze #OlderWiserAdvice #HiddenDangersOfEntrepreneurship #AdvantagesOfEntrepreneurship
