No shade, but soooooooo many marketers are guilty of buying more tech than they actually use. Just ask Gar Smyth, VP of Revenue Marketing & Operations at Mimecast. "Marketers love to buy lots and lots of tools, and then they're all used about 20-25%," he says. Instead of buying a bunch of tools that only do one thing, it's best to buy tools that can handle multiple use cases. Plus, you need to make sure you're only purchasing tech that gives you an immediate return on investment. So what did I learn from Marketing Directors at The Network Group CMO Network on Day 1?? Well, no matter the size or the vertical, most companies still have "crap" data, they still don't have systems that are integrated, and they are using marketing platforms that are expensive to maintain, have overages and are slow to operate with no real-time actions. I think Iterable has a bright future as we can solve these issues and at scale. If Zero-Click is the way then you have to figure out a way to get rid of the internet in your solutions. They (Big Tech) are capitalizing by taking the internet away and replacing it with walled gardens. Ok whatever, accept it. You won’t have access to the internet the way you used to. That’s ok, people existed before the internet but more importantly people existed in 2000 when the internet was just getting started. There was way less internet then. So it’s ok that in the future it dominates less of our life, it means as a marketer you spend more on other stuff, not just digital. Budgets and plans will get more diverse and that’s a good thing potentially. Going to need more human elements and more humans, but hey guess where I can find some humans? It’s a race to customers, doesn’t matter how you get to them. It’s going to be ok. Just think beyond the screens and you’ll be alright. #zeroClick #qrCodes #marketing
