Reina Sofia Museum Summer 2021. I hadn’t been to a museum for a while and after a lavish lunch in the park we browsed with our teenagers. I love this shot as they are clearly both leaning to check out the art from a different angle. Perspective helps us explore and understand situations from other positions, to consider others’ beliefs, experiences and view points. Gaining a view or thought from a different angle can gives us greater empathy and trigger somatic experiences. Considering unique ways of seeing, doing, hearing, noticing… reduces bias, judgement and conflict. It can support imaginative thought too. How does perspective help? Taking time to keep things in perspective and look through different lenses allows us to: *Develop a better understanding of things *See a problem or challenge from different angles to develop a better knowledge *To evaluate the importance of something *Gain perspective *Dive I to existential thinking *Drop judgement *Focus on facts *See the strengths and development areas *Act rationally and considerately rather than impulsively What are the benefits? We: -Avoid judgement -Reduce stress -Respond constructively not impulsively -Develop deeper empathy -Gain greater clarity -Learning. Coaching and creative supervision work with images, icons, pictures and other types of art can also support balance and seeing perspectives. I see curiosity, companionship and calm here. They stayed. ‘Stay’ is important in perspective work. What do you notice in this image? What draws your attention? What came before the shot? After? Metaphorically, what does this photo represent to you? What’s the takeaway? And they are looking that way, and that way, whilst he, unmasked, is looking the ‘other’ way. #coaching #work #love #learning #development #sisters #sofia #museum #empathy #art #ICF #AfC #AoCS #TCD #EMCC

I am delighted to share that I have completed a certification in #ArtHistory, titled "The History of Western Art from the Renaissance to the Contemporary Era." This 3-month, 60-hour program has not inly introduced me to the world of art, but has also deeply enriched my understanding of the transformative phases of Western art! Though it may appear irrelevant and distinct from my professional role, this educational journey has infused invaluable fresh perspectives into my professional sphere! The detailed study of art history not only intensified my personal #passion but also enhanced my skills in #DesignThinking, #ProcessExcellence, and innovative #ProblemSolving. The unique insights gained from this certification have inspired a #creative and broadened approach in my daily work! #LifelongLearning #GrowthMindset #ProfessionalDevelopment #Innovation #CulturalInsights #PersonalGrowth

Last week I visited my daughter at Uni as she was completing & curating her FAHA BA show. Talking to her peers, feverishly meeting exhibition deadlines,(others so laid back they were horizontal) a few apathetically communicated about their time at Uni & their future career hopes, (this is not unique to fine art students). Based on all three of my children’s lived education experiences (lockdown & C19 algorithms) they are all do-ers with a strong work ethic, they make a plan & execute. This reinforces the certainty they require & have mapped out their next yr. My 18yr old has finished a combo of A’s & double Btec’s, (he chose not to put pressure on himself by doing all A levels) with deferred places at Uni, a tour of Australia & elite sports physio work experience lined up as he travels. My middle son has taken a different pathway. He dropped out of L6th, didn’t do A’s or go to Uni & at that stage didn’t know what his future was. He’s had a turbulent education career (dyslexia, absent parent, losing 50% of his vision at 14) he left school with little to no self esteem. He’s just turned 21, saved a sizeable deposit, invests into the S&P, all self taught (no FQ in schools obvs). He has a 5 yr financial plan & career plan. Most of his teachers wrote him off, he was made to feel awful about himself at school. I heard him say recently ‘ I've finally found something I'm good at ‘. His self confidence is through the roof! He’s gone into sales, it’s about people; humanising the conversation, meeting your audience where they’re at & having great rapport building & communication skills (also not taught in school). Some people think ‘ooo sales?’, some people think ‘btecs ?’ & some people think ‘creative arts degree? ‘ If you have such an interesting response it might be one to reflect on, however, what matters to me is this is what success as a parent looks like. My son’s confidence has made him grow taller, he's found his zone of genius & loves it. He's smashing his targets at work over people who have been in the business for yrs & are in their 30’s+ he’s on track for a promotion. I don’t share this insight to brag about my children (although they are all pretty awesome & have a big heart). When children have been taught life skills with the right adult support, & continue to layer up their knowledge, take action & execute, it doesn’t matter how they got there. There’s so much pressure on our children’s shoulders often at the expense of their MH & often it’s a reflection of our failings which we project onto them. It’s important that we allow our children to make decisions about their pathways which sets them on a course to their North Star, our job is to help them adjust their sail. It’s their journey not ours. So when results day comes an ‘oops moment’ can be built upon to layering resiliency, tenacity & upskill their lived experiences. Thank you to my family & friends for always being their for my children #ittakesavillage
