Safety Starts with you Have you ever been in a situation where you are tempted to do the wrong thing because to you it's the quickest way out? Have you been tempted to use a short cut from the standard operating procedure? Have you ever felt like people asking you to follow the procedure are too burdensome? If you think well about the above question I am sure you will answer yes to at least one. I remember as a student Nurse I pride myself with the fact that I can break Ampoules without using the file or wrapping the bottle until I had a severe cut while breaking an Ampoule. Safety is the thin line between you and accident Be safety Conscious. Remember the Safety Tribe is Rooting for you to keep working and walking safe ❤️. #worksafety #occupationalhealth

somebody in my network asked me for the steps in QRT ( Quick Response Team) (1) Always check if the emergency contacts or emergency response system are working or not. (2) Shortlist the people for your team (3) In QRT people from top to bottom management performs their role differently. (4) Team members of QRT: (1) MS, Adminstrator , Electrician, Nursing in charge , Maintaince manager , Housekeeping in charge , Multitasking staff , Security comes. (It also differs in different organisations as per the availability of staff. (5) Whenever any emergency arises everyone in the QRT should know what to do ,how to respond and patient safety should be in mind. (6) First steps during emergency is to find out the source of that particular emergency. (7) Then act as per the nature of emergency, evacuation should be done safely without harming the patients . (8) Analysis and evaluation and corrective measures should be discussed once everything has been solved. (9) These types of incidences should be raised in the committee meetings and our approach always should be preventive. we should try and implement all measures which can avoid such type of emergencies in the future.

Try something different this week. Set aside the checklists, agendas, emails and everything else, and just be present around your facility. Not for rounding, not for inservices, not for compliance checks, but simply to connect. Leave the office, go out and meet the staff. Get to know those nurses, techs, housekeepers, maintenance, lab, dietary and even patients. These are the people who turn your guidance as an #InfectionPreventionist (IP) into action or are affected by it everyday. Spend a few minutes with each of them, learn about their daily challenges and wins. Get to know their names, roles and the unique insights they bring to the table. Ask questions. Listen. Show them you are much more than policies and procedures. You will be surprised by what you learn and the perspectives you will gain. When you step out from your desk something very powerful happens. You’re no longer the person in the background. You’re a face to the name. Building these relationships doesn’t just make your job easier, it strengthens your entire #InfectionPreventionandControl program. Give it a try for a week and see how it feels to connect with others. You’ll start to notice new ideas, fresh energy, and maybe the elusive buy-in we all seek. Get out there, IPs!

BEYOND THE SIRENS: A SCOPING REVIEW ON PARAMEDIC SAFETY DURING RESPONSE AND TRANSPORTATION “The themes presented here contribute to the overarching safety concerns confronting paramedics during transportation and it is evident that relying solely on a single concern, for example, seat belt use, as a safety measure will be inadequate, given the multifaceted nature of paramedic work. A multifaceted approach is required. This should encompass ambulance design, the bolstering of equipment safety, and formulation of strategies to mitigate risks linked to lights and sirens driving. The implementation of policies, while essential, represents only one facet of this multifaceted solution; substantial research endeavours are required to identify innovative solutions that ensure the safety of paramedics without compromising the quality of care they deliver.” https://lnkd.in/gxpCMtxq
