It was definitely ‘more’ challenging in the early 80’s when all we had were HM’s Post Office, 35mm film, and the seldom-affordable long-distance phone call thru British Telecom. Contrast with todays ‘overseas’ students with laptops and tablets, internet video calling and messaging and smart phones. There were 20 friendly establishments along Rose Street, 10 on each side of the street, that served a noble purpose.
