💜October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month💜 This month, we’re invited to wear purple to support survivors and raise awareness about this important issue. Domestic violence can impact anyone—regardless of age, background, or gender. It’s essential to bring attention to this so survivors feel empowered to seek help. Some signs of domestic violence include unexplained injuries, withdrawal, or anxiety around certain people—but not everyone shows visible signs. The best way to help is to listen without judgment, believe their story, and encourage professional support when they’re ready. If you or someone you know needs help, Idaho has several resources: Idaho Coalition, Women’s and Children’s Alliance, and Safe Passage. Let’s wear purple this month and share this message to help spread awareness. Together, we can make a difference 💜 #DomesticViolenceAwareness #SupportSurvivors #EndDomesticViolence #BreakTheSilence #WearPurple #PurpleForAPurpose #SpeakOut #SurvivorStrong #StopAbuse #EmpowerSurvivors #EndTheViolence #RaiseAwareness #StandWithSurvivors #HealingJourney #LoveShouldntHurt #TogetherWeCan #YouAreNotAlone #IdahoSupport #CommunityCare #believesurvivors💜

🌟 Go Local: Together, We Can Change the Narrative 💬❤️One of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned from past resistance is this: go local. By sharing personal stories, putting a human face on the harm, and reframing the conversation, we can push back against divisive attacks and build stronger, more compassionate communities. We’re working to amplify the voices of those most affected—immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQIA+ individuals, students, people with disabilities, and parents in need of support. These aren’t abstract policies; they’re real challenges impacting our neighbors, friends, and families. When we highlight the human cost of these attacks, we can inspire others to stand up and act. Here’s how you can join us: 1️⃣ Tell Stories: Share how these policies affect people in your community. Help others see the faces behind the headlines. 2️⃣ Educate Locally: Talk about how these attacks hurt your broader community and why they don’t reflect shared values. 3️⃣ Speak Out: Use your voice at school meetings, community events, and even in casual conversations to shift the narrative. We’re in this together, and every story, conversation, and action makes a difference. Let’s work to protect one another and create a future rooted in equity and justice. 💪✨ #GoLocal #AmplifyVoices #HumanizeTheNarrative #CommunitySupport #TogetherWeRise #ProtectOurNeighbors 🏡✊

The conclusion of this year's #16DaysOfActivism Against Gender-Based Violence coincides with Human Rights Day. This day is a powerful reminder of how human rights are a pathway to solutions, playing a critical role as a preventative, protective and transformative force for good. At Brisbane Youth Service, we see firsthand how the power of human rights can transform lives. For the young people we work with, particularly those experiencing or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and family violence (DFV), claiming their rights means having access to age-appropriate supports, securing safe housing, breaking the cycle of violence, and building healthy relationships. Through our trauma-informed services, like our Young Women, Families and Safe Relationships programs, we support young people to heal, reclaim control and develop the skills they need to to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. We believe that when young people are empowered to know and assert their rights, they can thrive in their communities and create the futures they deserve. This 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Human Rights Day and beyond, we stand with young people to build a world where their rights are respected, protected and fulfilled. #NewFutures #HumanRightsDay #OurRightsOurFuture #EndGenderBasedViolence

People often ask me, "When did your career begin?" Wow, it started when I was just a small girl, full of passion and eager to participate in any activities within my community. I was privileged to be chosen by my primary school to attend a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Life Skills Training for Behavior Change and Networking. It was the first time I heard about gender-based violence. Since there were only two of us representing our school, we were tasked with learning as much as possible and bringing the message back to share with other pupils. And as you know, children never lie—they speak exactly what they are taught. Our message was simple yet powerful: "STOP GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE!" We carried it home, and soon, the entire community had gained knowledge about GBV and the reporting channels available in case of any incidents. Fast forward to when my dreams began taking shape—I had the opportunity to study Community Health Assistance. Through this, I gained a deeper understanding of gender-based violence and its impact. The greatest part of my journey has been working directly with community members—hearing stories straight from the horse’s mouth. Now, more than ever, it is time everyone to take a stand against Gender-based violence and femicide also advocate for justice. Inclusivity must be at the core of our fight. #endGenderBasedViolance #FemicideAwareness #GenderJustice #EmpowerCommunities #HealthAndWellbeing
