80% of a person’s health is impacted by factors outside the doctor’s office, including access to transportation. UnitedHealthcare is proud to sponsor local organizations like DARTS, which gives older adults in the Twin Cities safe rides to medical appointments, grocery stores and more. 👨👩👧👦🏥👨⚕️⚕️👨👩👧👦 Community Health Centers play a pivotal role in partnering with communities to enhance the nation's health. By providing accessible, high-quality care, these centers are instrumental in reducing health disparities, especially among historically marginalized groups. They excel in managing chronic diseases and perinatal health, often outperforming national averages in healthcare quality measures. The phrase, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" underscores the pivotal role of community leaders in shaping decisions about their health. Recognizing that community members are not just passive recipients of health initiatives but active agents in their own well-being, it becomes imperative to involve them in the decision-making process. By inviting community leaders to the table, we tap into their invaluable insights, knowledge of local contexts, and grassroots networks. Together, we can co-create solutions that are culturally sensitive, contextually relevant, and sustainable in the long run. #together #wellbeing #health #communityleaders #stakeholders #publichealth #pacificintegrativehealth

As National Minority Health Month comes to a close, we echo the message from @MinorityHealth: Be the Source for Better Health for all! Here at H.O.P.E. Collective, we know that health equity serves everyone, especially people of color in rural communities. In rural spaces, we see firsthand how the power of collaboration can tackle health disparities. Here are some ways YOU can be a part of the change: 1. Support community gardens and farmers markets: Fresh produce is key to healthy living, but access can be limited. 2. Advocate for culturally-competent healthcare: Everyone deserves care that respects their background. ️ 3. Spread health literacy: Knowledge is power! Help others understand their health options. 4. Volunteer your time or skills: Clinics, food banks, and community centers often need a helping hand. Happy Public Health Week! If we want to shape better health outcomes for everyone, prioritizing public health is a must. I'm a believer that one of the most important aspects of public health is health equity. Health equity is all about providing everyone with a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible, regardless of their background, race, socioeconomic status, or other factors. Health equity starts with ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare services without barriers, but that isn't where it ends. Sometimes, people may have access to certain healthcare services but aren't educated on those services or have their own negative experiences with healthcare institutions that keep them from seeking out the care they need. This is why community engagement is such an important part of improving health equity. Engaging communities in decision-making processes related to health policies, programs, and services can have a major impact. #PublicHealthWeek #HealthcareServices #HealthEquity
