We’re proud to announce that Unipart is playing a pivotal role in 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗦𝗘 (Power Electronics Upscale for Localisation and Sustainable Electrification), an £11 million initiative backed by the UK government through the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK. The project, led by Protean Electric, brings together five industrial partners and two leading universities – Coventry University and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) – to industrialise the assembly and manufacture of inverters and converters in the UK. It aims to accelerate the development and industrialisation of cutting-edge in-wheel motor and fuel-cell technology, capitalising on the growing market demand and boosting UK-based production capabilities. By 2030, this project will create or safeguard 159 jobs in the UK and save 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 every year. Liebherr automates dismantling of high-voltage battery systems The rise of battery-electric vehicles raises questions about the environmental footprint of vehicle batteries, raw material security, and industry competitiveness. By 2030, batteries from an estimated four million electric vehicles may reach the end of their life. Recycling lithium-ion batteries, which contain valuable raw materials, is both ecologically and economically beneficial. Liebherr Gear Technology and Automation Systems addresses the complex and costly manual dismantling of battery systems by developing automated processes. SensoPart is part of this pioneering project with its VISOR® vision sensors. Our compact B8650 machine enables trickling and roll-dip impregnation for small-to-medium production volumes, offering the flexibility to process stators, rotors, and components up to 450mm in diameter. With semi-automated loading and unloading, it’s a space-saving solution that’s adaptable to various configurations, and capable of handling diverse impregnation needs.
