In crisis, girls face unique challenges, and their voices are often unheard. We are dedicated to listening to their concerns and acting on the solutions they propose before and after Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services are provided for those still in shelters and as they are returning to their homes. Explore the Rapid Gender Analysis: https://uni.cf/3ZwO10x

As researchers, how do we think about gender-based violence (GBV)? Understandings of GBV in the development and humanitarian sectors are often limited to intimate partner violence (IPV) or are considered only relevant to women and girls. While essential, this is just one part of a multifaceted phenomenon. GBV can also encompass "mundane" violence, such as domestic labour, "economic" violence, including financial control, structural violence, as well as many other forms - which are apparent for any gender. How we conceptualise, theorise, and design research to study GBV in different contexts depends on how we deconstruct and decolonise its meanings. Our senior team will be learning more about this important topic at the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI)'s webinar today. We look forward to sharing our key takeaways with you! #GBV #Conceptualising #Theorising #Research #ViolenceAgainstWomen #DecolonisingResearch

📢We are starting the #GlobalMinisterialEvent off in the UK on Weds 6th Nov 2pm with the #ActOnIICSA Event📢 https://lnkd.in/eVKaCQBe 📢We are excited to kick off a crucial conversation with the Act on IICSA’s Webinar, where we will discuss why we are calling for the immediate establishment of a Child Protection Authority (CPA).📢 The CPA is a vital recommendation from IICSA’s final report, which will lay the foundation for further reforms to protect children from sexual abuse. This webinar will feature Prof. Alexis Jay CBE, David Greenwood, and John O'Brien CBE, alongside members of the Act on IICSA steering group. They will explain the pressing need for a CPA and how, once established, how it will support education, health, and criminal justice professionals in preventing child sexual abuse. This event is an essential platform for professionals, survivors, MPs, and ministers to engage in discussions that will shape the future of child protection in the UK. Our work directly aligns with the Ending Violence Against Children #FirstGlobalMinisterialConference event happening in Bogotá, Colombia, on November 7-8. While global leaders focus on securing commitments to protect children worldwide, our webinar will kickstart these efforts in the UK. Together, we can demonstrate that action on child protection is not just aspirational but achievable. This is your chance to be a part of a global movement and join the fight to end child sexual abuse by starting in the UK on the 6th of November 👇 Register now to attend online: https://lnkd.in/eX3CAUWY This event and campaign is hosted by The Survivors Trust & Act On IICSA steering group. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, ask questions, and advocate for the implementation of the CPA, the first step in building a safer future for children. This recommendation is based on evidence gathered from public hearings, research, and from over 7000 survivors who took part in the IICSA over 8 years. @BeBraveGlobal #IICSAChangemakers #ActOnIICSA

Combating the National Epidemic of Violence Against Ethiopian Women 🙅♀️ According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, often perpetrated by an intimate partner. This epidemic of gender-based violence has severe physical, mental, and social consequences for victims, and it is a fundamental violation of human rights. Addressing this crisis requires a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach. We need stronger laws and enforcement to hold perpetrators accountable. We must provide accessible support services for survivors, including medical care, counseling, and economic assistance. Critical to this effort is challenging the social norms and gender inequities that enable such violence to occur in the first place. Education and advocacy are essential to driving the cultural shift needed to prevent violence against women. We must teach young people, especially young men and boys, about healthy relationships, consent, and respect. Workplaces, schools, and communities should foster environments that reject all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination. We all have a responsibility to speak out and take action against this egregious human rights violation. By working together, we can build a world where women and girls are safe, empowered, and able to live with dignity. This is not only a moral imperative, but also critical for the wellbeing and prosperity of our community. # Justice for Tsega # Justice for us!
