Add in the ability to extend a cart’s life by up to 5x, cost less than a new cart, and Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway’s backing and large-scale capabilities, and we had a powerful story. Pretty compelling, right? 😎 With this third-party validation strengthening our message, it was up to us to elevate our assets and equip our team to deliver it effectively. Greenyard unveils solar powered trailer 🌱🚛 Earlier this week we have unveiled our first solar-powered refrigerated trailer in partnership with DFDS. This state-of-the-art, battery and solar powered trailer marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable future. Designed to transport frozen vegetables between our UK sites, the trailer underlines our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and leading the transition to sustainable food value chains. James Tuttle, Greenyard Frozen Transport Manager, said: "This is an important first step in decarbonising our operations. As the most sustainable food category, we're investing in innovative solutions to further green our supply chain." We're delighted to be working with DFDS, whose innovative Sunswap trailer technology uses solar and battery power to maintain optimal temperatures while significantly reducing emissions. With solar panels generating up to 100% of the power needed, it's a giant leap forward for environmentally friendly refrigerated transport. Part of being sustainable is constantly reassessing everything that we do at Woodlands Dairy. We carefully manage our fleet of trucks with advanced vehicle-tracking devices that monitor driving habits, vehicle performance and fuel efficiencies. Besides that, in 2022, we acquired 12 new 8 ton sales trucks. These trucks feature engine-powered cooling units, leading to significant fuel and maintenance savings. This significant reduction in fuel consumption translates to a considerable decrease in carbon emissions, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment. The new vehicles’ maintenance costs should also be significantly reduced over a seven-year service period. The question about “sustainability” didn’t surprise us. It highlights the growing trend that businesses in Germany are increasingly focusing on sustainable projects in maintenance. Specifically, they demand more safety and higher efficiency from their service providers in the maintenance and servicing of silos. For a long time now, we have been using at BUCHEN-ICS innovative technologies in the silo cleaning sector to increase safety and efficiency. These principles are key to promoting sustainability in the industrial service sector. 🔍 What exactly was important for the customer? The chemical company operates several silos for storing various products, including firefighting agents. Over time, deposits of the product in different hardness levels accumulated in one of the silos. With a volume of about 42m³, the silo was completely clogged. The material urgently needed to be replaced, and specifically: ⛔ Without personnel entry for increased safety and better operational planning and ⛔ Without using water, as it would make the product unusable. The current request aimed to make maintenance more sustainable for the manufacturing operation under these conditions. ♻️ Our approach: As an innovative service provider, we utilize numerous devices in the silo cleaning sector that protect both people and the environment. Specifically, this means that our methods allowed us to crush the caked firefighting agent in its dry state, vacuum it up in an environmentally friendly manner, and pack it into big bags – all without personnel entry and without using water. ➡ This enabled our customer to resell the product on the market and contribute to the circular economy.
