I've always been fascinated by the power of design to shape our world. It's more than just aesthetics; it's the art of problem-solving and crafting experiences that resonate with people. As an entry-level Product Designer, I'm constantly exploring new ways to blend creativity with functionality. I'm particularly drawn to user experience because it probes me to think of the psychology of users of said product. I'm currently on the lookout for an internship opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to innovative projects. I do believe design is a crucial factor in driving business success because it sells the product without the business owner having to utter a word. I'd love to hear your perspectives and insights on design. Let's spark a conversation! #30daysSocialMediaChallengewithMalokunLabs #productdesign #uxdesign #uidesign #internship #designthinking

YOU ARE HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE Start your internship and make that difference. You create to make a difference. You learn design to make a substantial difference. You design substantial products to make a real difference. You help others become someone who helps others make a difference. You empower a creative culture to make an impactful difference. In my journey, I've realized that stacking awards is only a part of a story. I've experienced every step at PHOENIX since starting as an intern in 2006. The real goal today? To use that freedom as a leader to impact lives. Whether through our school initiatives, lectureships at universities, or our PHOENIX academy, I've learned that the value of being a design entrepreneur lies in the difference it can make. At PHOENIX, we are genuinely in love with beginnings and beginners. It's always day one for us. It keeps us young and fresh. That's why interns are genuinely one of our success factors! You keep us young and fresh by challenging us with new perspectives. That is priceless for a permanent renewal and fluidity of our creative culture. Ultimately, it's all about people becoming something they are not today. Counting your successful projects is easy, but what counts is the legacy you leave behind. Design is an impact business. Design is a people's business. It's all about creating opportunities, uplifting people, and being a force for positive renewal. Always together. That's the kind of success that counts and lasts for me. It's about bringing others up with you so they can do it similarly. What matters is the intention and the action- not what has been achieved. Why? Because we are here to make a difference. Today for tomorrow. Ready to rise with us? Apply for our next internship gang, but be aware that only four places exist. I am starting as a designer all over again! (Hypothetically of course) But if I were to enter the design industry today all over again, I'd do this: ➡️Internships for good 6-12 months: Internships in good companies that have even great design teams. Your focus here should be on grasping core knowledge and receiving critique and feedback. ➡️ Find a new startup that needs a designer: A new startup is like a fresh slate. It doesn't matter if you're the sole designer. You'd have a playground to apply all of the knowledge you garnered during the internship phase. Think about it. If I were you, I'd work on building my design team now. ➡️Find your BIG opportunity: By now, you have ample experience. You're ready for the breakthrough. And that folks, is the exact blueprint I'd follow. What would be your approach here, designers? Let me know in the comments below. #thedubemethod #uiuxdesign #uxdesign

MUST I MAKE A VIDEO FOR AN INTERNSHIP APPLICATION?🤔 📹 Exactly one year ago, I shared a video applying for the Women Techsters internship, filled with anticipation and a whole lot of determination. Today, as I reflect on that moment and compare it to where I am now, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities, challenges, and learnings that have shaped my journey. 💪 Through the fellowship, I've honed my technical skills, expanded my professional network, and discovered my potential to thrive in the tech industry. The support, mentorship, and camaraderie within the Women Techsters community have been instrumental in my growth. 🌟 I am proud of the milestones I've achieved, the projects I've worked on, and the relationships I've built along the way. This experience has not only equipped me with more knowledge to excel in the design tech field but has also empowered me to dream bigger and reach for new heights. During the course of the program, I was able to work on these: 1) Personal and Group Capstone Project. 2) Tutor 20 Women Techsters on the application of the Color Theory to design. 3) Secure 2 UI design freelance gigs. 4) Work on 3 pro-bono product design projects in the healthcare, e-commerce and edutech sector. 5) Publish my first design portfolio. Despite the mental and emotional hurdles, especially towards the end of the program, I am yet grateful for the impact I was able to receive and also give. 🙌 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my product design journey, supporting me, challenging me, and inspiring me to push beyond my limits. Thank you to Tech4Dev for the platform, my wonderful facilitator Cynthia Caxton and all the members of Group 20 capstone project, especially Iniobong Nse Mary Oladunjoye, mMBA for the constant push and Gabriella Echebiri for the distant motivation. 💪 Here's to celebrating this milestone and embracing the exciting opportunities that lie ahead! 💼✨ #productdesign #tech4dev #milestones #design #application #freelance #colortheory #learnings #womentechsters #productdesigner #uiuxdesign #productdesignintern #skills #internship #opportunities #capstoneproject #juniorleveldesigner #designportfolio

I'm thrilled to share that I've completed Task 5: Enhance a Form as part of my internship at Cognifyz Technologies Prototype link: https://lnkd.in/gdcKgAwA To enhance the login/signup screen, I followed a user-centered approach: 1. Conducted a thorough analysis of the existing form to identify usability issues and areas for improvement. 2. Simplified the layout to enhance clarity and reduce cognitive load. 3. Established a clear visual hierarchy to guide users through the form intuitively. 4. Selected intuitive and user-friendly form elements to facilitate seamless interaction. 5. Incorporated visually appealing design elements to create an engaging experience. Through this redesign, I successfully created an interactive and responsive login/signup screen that balances aesthetic appeal with seamless user experience. 🌟 As my 4-month journey as a TD intern comes to a close, I want to share insights that profoundly shaped my early career. Here are the five most impactful lessons I’ve learned: 1. Take Ownership of Your Work Think like a customer, act like an owner, innovate with purpose, and execute with impact. During my internship, I learned what it means to act like an owner. Ownership is more than a responsibility; it's a mindset. This involves being accountable for your contributions, attaching your name to your work, and upholding a caliber of quality that you want to be recognized for. I acted like an owner by seeking opportunities to lead tasks, and as a contributor, I took initiative without being asked, anticipating the needs and requirements of projects. 2. Embrace Collaboration with an Open Mind Working in collaboration is inescapable; however, your perspective and how you approach it can make all the difference. While UX is inherently collaborative, I had a unique experience in that I was able to work not only with my team but also pilot the process of cross multi-platform collaboration. I embraced an open-minded approach, welcoming feedback as a catalyst for improvement rather than as personal criticism. 3. Set Realistic Expectations Through Transparency I won’t sugarcoat it; juggling numerous tasks and competing priorities was incredibly challenging. However, what was crucial during this term was being transparent—not only understanding your own limits but also communicating them and setting realistic expectations about what could be achieved. As someone who is eager to please, learning to ensure I wasn’t overcommitting presented its own challenges, but it was worth it. It’s better to deliver exceptional results on manageable tasks than to stretch yourself too thin. 4. The Importance of Storytelling A valuable skill I developed was how to leverage storytelling to maximize the impact of my work. Storytelling helps engage stakeholders and ensures strategies are aligned with user needs. Beyond UX, storytelling can transform abstract data into memorable narratives. This approach notably improved my presentation skills, making complex information more accessible and compelling to my audience. 5. Don’t Be Scared to Speak Up Finally, I learned never to hesitate to express myself. Whether it was to seek clarity during meetings or to defend my design decisions, your opinion is not only valued but necessary for success. 💡 These lessons are just the beginning of what I hope for in my career. Remember, your experience is what you make of it—take every opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow. A huge thanks to Sue McCloskey and Kate Nikiforova for their mentorship, the EAJ team Joelle Girgis, MASc and Jenni Walker for their inspiring research, designers Isaac Tan and Narda Hughes for their guidance, and of course my partner in crime Sanjenah Visagan. 💚

To our students and alumni (especially those specifically specialized in biomimicry design), this may be a very interesting vacancy! Ermi van Oers please know that all of the students who have completed the biomimicry design thinking semester at @TheHagueUniversity (Called DesignWithNature) would make a great match. This is why I repost this here (after a tip from Kim Dieleman ). #TheHagueUniversityOfAppliedSciences
