‘Friends or foes? The evolving ASC, hospital relationship’ “Hospitals are increasingly looking to ASCs as procedures migrate to the outpatient setting,” writes Patsy Newitt in Becker's Healthcare. "It's not a 'them versus us' mentality anymore," one source tells Becker’s. “Many hospitals and ASC chains are looking to joint ventures — Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health System, a 48-hospital Catholic system, has teamed up with Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners to build out more than 30 ASCs.” We are proud to pioneer partnerships that improve outpatient surgery care for patients and for the surgical teams who heal them. The ASC market is growing at a rapid pace. For 2024, CMS has significantly expanded ASC-covered procedures including 104 dental procedures, 41 new surgical procedures and 27 new drug and biological HCPCS codes. This growth is peaking interest from a number of Health Systems according to a January survey completed by VMG Health. Steward Health Care, the bankrupt 31 (and counting . . . down) hospital system is attempting to cut facilities in the course of trying to save itself through its Chapter 11 reorganization.
