The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved "Badger G," a genetically modified hemp variant developed by the University of Wisconsin, designed to maximize levels of CBG (cannabigerol) while eliminating THC and CBD. This breakthrough addresses the high cost of producing CBG, known as the "mother" cannabinoid for its foundational role in cannabinoid biosynthesis and potential health benefits, by enabling cultivation of hemp with significantly higher CBG yields. This new variety is expected to revolutionize the hemp market by mitigating the risk of THC regulatory non-compliance for farmers and reducing the reliance on large quantities of hemp biomass for CBG extraction, thereby decreasing production costs. In addition, these advancements could lead to more affordable and innovative CBG + CBD products by enhancing product formulation options and cost-effectiveness. Ultimately, this development has the potential to significantly lower costs for end consumers as well, making CBG more accessible and encouraging the introduction of a wider range of cannabinoid-based health and wellness products. This was quite a track record of performance for Cybin over the past year: - Positive phase 2 safety and efficacy readout for CYB003 as an adjunctive treatment for MDD - Around 75% of MDD patients in remission after just two doses - sustained for at least 4 months - Breakthrough Therapy Designation awarded to CYB003 by FDA - Successful recruitment of 30 sites for an upcoming phase 3 study of CYB003 in MDD this summer - Closing and integration of the Small Pharma team, along with programs and IP - Acceleration of CYB004 IM formulation aimed at delivering a 90 minute experience - Initiation of a phase 2 study of CYB004 in GAD with top line results expected around year end 2024
