🎼 Did you know the Analog button on your plugins could be adding unwanted noise to your mix? In today's video, we break down some essential tips for cleaner, professional-sounding tracks. Here's a quick summary: • Turning off Analog on all your plugins can declutter your mix. • Little moves, like reducing unwanted frequencies, make a huge difference. Use a de-esser to tackle harsh sounds around 4500 Hz. • Mixing is about removing what's annoying — your ears will thank you later. • If you want the best results, consider hiring a mixing engineer or invest time in learning the craft yourself. What steps have you taken to improve your audio mixes? Share your experiences in the comments! #AudioEngineering #MusicProduction #MixingTips #SoundDesign #CreativeProcess #ProfessionalAudio #

🎮🔊This survey for Australian Game Audio professionals is still open, so please get your responses in! And if you can give the original post a cheeky share so we can get as many diverse voices as possible, I would super appreciate it. 👾🎵 I’ve already got so much great data! Thank you to those composers, sound designers, technical implementers and all of those in between for taking the time to fill this in so far. If you (or any of your friends) are Australian Game Audio Professionals, I want to know how you work, what you do, and what you think would improve the industry. The aim is to get a comprehensive snapshot of exactly how game audio professionals are working, what disciplines they span, what opportunities exist, and to understand where and what kind of support is needed. I also want to note that if you’re an Australian and are working internationally, I still want to hear from you, and there is a question that speaks to Aussies working abroad. Additionally, people coming up, finishing studies, changing career/industry, I also want to hear from you so we know what supports need to be in place to ensure there are opportunities for new and fresh talent. There is a section of the survey that caters for this. Thank you! I can’t wait to get some more responses and share the findings with you all soon 😊
If you work in Australian Game Audio, I want to hear from you! I've created a survey to help us understand how our game audio professionals are working, where they're working, and how sustainable this work is. Working in game audio, you often have to be a composer, sound design, and technical audio professional all in one, and despite there being a lot of multi-talented Australian audio folk in this industry, there is often a lack of job opportunities. Additionally, it is not uncommon for audio work to be outsourced, regardless of the available and more than capable talent located in our backyard. If you have 10 minutes, please fill in this survey. I'll be writing up a report once this data has been collected to help inform what steps the Australian Game Development industry need to take to create more sustainable jobs in Australia, and how to improve the game audio pipeline so that we can foster and grow amazing senior talent! I used to think people cared about why they were doing something. Then I had an experience that showed me that some people actually couldn't care less. After I graduated college, my university invited me back as a guest sound designer for one of their spring productions. I was thrilled as it was the biggest sound design opportunity I had to date. One of the novel aspects of this role as a guest designer was that I had an audio engineer who handled all the technical aspects of the audio system in the theatre so I could focus on the sound effects and artistry of what we were creating. Previously I was always my own audio engineer. So I set to work figuring out what I wanted from the show. I gave an initial sound plot to my audio engineer and she worked with her team to install speakers in the appropriate locations and make the system capable of what I needed. One day I was out in the house working on the sound effects and the audio engineer came to me to ask which way the speakers onstage should be oriented. I told her how I wanted the speakers to face, and was just about to explain what I was trying to accomplish when she walked away to keep working. It was shocking to me at the time that someone could complete their work purely based off of simple instruction without understanding the end goal. Understanding why was always critical to me growing up, I practically couldn't do anything unless I understood the intention behind it. I discovered that I could drastically simplify communication with most people. The ones who actually care why will usually ask, so there's no use boring the people who don't. -------- If you found this insightful, consider re-sharing ♻️ and follow me to continue seeing posts about innovation and automation in engineering firms. #Innovation #Leadership #Communication #Collaboration #Creativity #Automation #AECIndustry

Adjust vocals so they blend with the mix If increasing the volume of your voices upsets the harmony but they still don't stand out sufficiently, you can try the following: • Make a second aux channel just for your voice. • On this aux, only leave the midrange. • Saturate it heavily, almost to distortion. • Mix to taste with dry signal.
