Well, that was lovely... Well done to Fi Burge for pulling off her first Product Place networking event. The first visit to Cheltenham didn’t disappoint. Although I need to go back as a tourist, not work :) I had the pleasure today of hearing the stories of founders, creators, designers, florists, photographers, fragrance makers, social media experts, and printers, and, to top it off, new relationships made! I love a good networking event when you see lovely, familiar faces like Sophie Parker from The Flora Lab with big, beaming smiles! Also, putting faces to the brands that you’ve known for a while and never met Helen Flook (Macleod) from Marmalade of London and, of course, meeting new people like Tash from Culpepper thank you for sharing your journey, too. There was advise for people just starting out in the industry and tips from a few that are old hat at this. A few golden nuggets taken from today: “Always be integral to your brand.” “Be consistent” “Be Authentic” “Be true to yourself.” “It’s not always about the hard sell; it’s about creating a relationship” - Thank goodness, as I’m rubbish at selling but love creating new relationships (got that one in the bag!) If you want to encourage more repeat purchases, you should definitely do the following. Whatever industry you are in, whether it’s a hotel, hospital, gym, or any other, you should first genuinely serve your customer when they come to you for the first time. Secondly, you should maintain proper accountability for them, such as noting their initial condition and tracking any changes. For example, if you run a hospital, you should first genuinely serve your patient. Then, if your team calls the patient a week later and asks if their condition has improved, you should be prepared to invite them back for further treatment if necessary. Our doctors will provide proper treatment again if needed. When you care for someone in this way, it encourages more repeat purchases. I had an amazing experience at Thea’s in Arcona and wanted to share with you as there is a great lesson in it for all of us. Some key points you will take away: 1) People will pay MORE for your service when you can make them feel HEARD, make them feel like you CARE and when you can remove their FEARS. 2) It doesn’t have to cost you a lot more money and not that much more time to offer unreasonable hospitality and create raving fans who help share you story for you. 3) It all started with one good review (so those reviews do matter 😉 ) What small tweaks can you make in your every day presentations and your processes to help your clients feel heard, cared for, and their fears addressed?
