Many businesses have been concerned with compliance with the Corporate Transparency Act. Now finally some good news: On December 4, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a nationwide preliminary injunction against the enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). The court cited constitutional concerns and the significant compliance burdens the act imposes on businesses. The nationwide injunction suspends the requirement for businesses to file beneficial ownership information under the CTA. However, this legal landscape is evolving, and the government may appeal the decision. Businesses should stay informed about further developments and consult legal counsel to understand their obligations.
