Our understanding of work is evolving. An increasing number of opportunities have moved away from the traditional model where, every weekday, people commute to an office and sit at a desk for eight hours before returning home. At Outlier, we marry that flexible work ethos to our mission of building great AI. We offer short-term, project-based work that allows our contributors to flex their expertise, earn some extra bucks, and do so on their own schedules. And we’re serious when we say you can work when and where you want. Our contributors work as freelancers, not full-time employees. Some work as little as a few hours a week, others far more depending on current demand for their expertise. The choice is yours. Outlier is especially compatible with other forms of work. Many people have side projects that don’t mesh well with a full-time, onsite job. They may be artists or writers whose workload varies greatly from week to week, or they’re trying to get their own businesses off the ground and need supplemental income that adapts to their demanding schedules. “My favorite part is the freedom,” says Valeria, an Outlier contributor. “You can adjust it to any type of career that you have on the side. I’m an artist and my schedule can change from week to week. If you have time, you can just make money on the side and it's very helpful.” Outlier’s project-based model is also conducive to non-work-related obligations like school or family. Students, parents, and caregivers often have irregular schedules — amd most part-time opportunities pull them away from their important obligations. Outlier allows them to get their work-life balance just right. “I'm a mom with five kids,” says Outlier contributor Gabriela. “I feel like there's flexibility if I need to take a day off because one of the kids is sick or if my oldest needs a ride. I can be there for my family and still provide for my family. So it's perfect.” If you're interested in working on Outlier and getting paid on your own time, check out opportunities here.

It has been 4 weeks since I did the video interview and test questions. Not at single ounce of feedback on any level. Outlier was specifically looking for South African English copywriters (I am a qualified South African copywriter). Then when I wanted to register on Outlier, it says "you are currently on Remotask and we will transition you soon". I am still waiting.

Hi there, I also contributed to some Outlier tasks and prompts. Essentially, if I could describe the experience in one word it would be disappointing. First the onboarding took literally forever then they pretend that you will get covered for the training time and I received no support nor training salary. Second when it comes to the actual prompts, they are actually very advanced and complex, polynomial regression, advanced statistical studies and you basically have to create these prompts in a short amount of time not proportional to the effort. In fact to my understanding / expertise it would take the same amount of efforts to build an math paper for an exam board. Thirdly, you may say, if it was worth the effort, what if they actually keep their promises and give you what you deserve ($50 per hour) ? Well in case, they never did live up to their commitment... I saw less and less prompts to create to the point that my dashboard was as blank as the Antarctica ice cap. And what about the promised pay rate ? Zero, nada, nothing. And no feedback of course... Shame, seemed to be a company that needs human interaction to build their model whilst their interaction with you are less than civilised.

Disappointed that it’s not easy to dispute bad reviews.

I asked you to delete my profile in May, and last week you invited me to join the platform again. This is a scam, right? https://www.inc.com/sam-blum/its-a-scam-accusations-of-mass-non-payment-grow-against-scale-ais-subsidiary-outlier-ai.html

I totally agree with this post! As an independent contributor and 1099 employee at Outlier, I've experienced the amazing flexibility and freedom this model offers. Being able to work on my own schedule has been a game-changer, letting me balance my professional and personal life seamlessly. Outlier's project-based work has allowed me to use my skills while also pursuing my passions and side projects without any compromise. Whether it's dedicating a few hours a week or diving into bigger projects, the choice is truly mine, and that autonomy is invaluable. Valeria's and Gabriela's stories really hit home for me. The freedom to adjust my work around my artistic endeavors and family commitments has made all the difference. It's empowering to know that I can be there for my loved ones while still contributing meaningfully to Outlier's mission of building great AI. For anyone considering joining Outlier, I highly recommend it. The opportunities here aren't just about earning extra bucks but about finding a work-life balance that suits your unique needs and aspirations. Check out the opportunities and see how Outlier can fit into your life as perfectly as it has for me!

Outlier_ I completed my Willo Interview many many months ago and there has been no response. I see you are hiring for similar roles up until today. I applied for that role again using a different email and got an onboarding email along with an onboarding video. From that video, I realized that the reason why you didn't get back to me was probably because my profile came out as fraudulent/suspicious, as I had had multiple Remotasks accounts in the past. I ended up creating a new one every time I forgot and lost my Remotask account/email. I have asked Remotask support to delete all my accounts. Could you maybe take a look at my profile and fix the T&S issue the system is flagging on my account? I am one hundred percent real and I do not do any fraud. I am ready for a video call or interview any time you are free.

It would be nice to hear back from customer support quicker and get problems resolved. Waiting for a month is not it, guys. Not to mention, the support email I replied to today doesn’t even receive emails anymore. What in the world?
