Daniel Z. has no shortage of intellectual pursuits. As a PhD student at MIT, he devotes much of his time to molecular biology and electrical engineering. However, artificial intelligence has always piqued his interest. “AI has already changed the way that we go about our day-to-day lives in so many ways for the better,” he says. A few months ago, he came across an opportunity to work on Outlier, and the combination of earning extra cash while contributing to AI development was too good to pass up. Daniel has now logged more than 100 hours on Outlier, and a few particular topics continue to fuel his passion. “My favorites have been in the multi-modal series,” he says. “These are fun because they involve images. You use images and helper prompts to get the model to generate a response, then determine whether there were any reasoning errors along the way.” Even the more straightforward projects provide Daniel with a valuable glimpse at how these models work. “I've also enjoyed the single turn series,” he says. “These are relatively straightforward tasks where you generate a prompt, let the model choose between some user input responses, and grade them based on mathematical accuracy, conciseness, presentation, and so on.” Daniel would highly recommend Outlier to his friends. The platform offers great flexibility, so you can work no matter how irregular your schedule may be. Additionally, he’s been impressed by Outlier’s support network and inviting community. “The community there is great and always available to answer any questions that you might have. There are a ton of great things I’ve discovered on the platform, not to mention the experience of participating in the improvement of these new large language models.” It doesn’t hurt that Daniel feels his expertise is appreciated and valued. “I’ve made about $4,000 working for Outlier,” he says with a grin, “so not too bad.”

Hi there, I also contributed to some Outlier tasks and prompts. Essentially, if I could describe the experience in one word it would be disappointing. First the onboarding took literally forever then they pretend that you will get covered for the training time and I received no support nor training salary. Second when it comes to the actual prompts, they are actually very advanced and complex, polynomial regression, advanced statistical studies and you basically have to create these prompts in a short amount of time not proportional to the effort. In fact to my understanding / expertise it would take the same amount of efforts to build an math paper for an exam board. Thirdly, you may say, if it was worth the effort, what if they actually keep their promises and give you what you deserve ($50 per hour) ? Well in case, they never did live up to their commitment... I saw less and less prompts to create to the point that my dashboard was as blank as the Antarctica ice cap. And what about the promised pay rate ? Zero, nada, nothing. And no feedback of course... Shame, seemed to be a company that needs human interaction to build their model whilst their interaction with you are less than civilised.

Estou ainda em experiência, mas já estou me acostumando com as tarefas. Procuram sempre trabalhar sua observação, sua inteligência e sua redação.

Have you looked in the Marketplace? You can usually onboard for various different projects there if you are EQ. Usually involves a short course, an assessment (where you get paid at a lesser rate because you are training), then tasking at the full rate if you pass.

Currently on EQ from a long time please help Outlier. I prepared some prompt on some tough optimization problems and they removed me from the project they just like simple prompts. When we write simple prompts then they falsely accuse of silly mistakes like latex code error.

Para mí es solo para robarnos nuestros datos, nunca enviaron trabajos y no te dejan eliminar la cuenta. No caigan, no se registren !!!! Yo no he podido borrar mi cuenta!

I can attest to this! I've earned over $700 since joining Outlier last month, and it's been a fantastic side gig. The flexibility to choose my working hours makes it a great opportunity for anyone looking to contribute to AI development !
