I realize the first official day of spring was back in March. That said, for me spring starts as I see the new shoots in our gardens, the flowering of our crabapple tree, and the return of the frogs croaking in our woods. S and D Oyster Company Recently, I took my wife, Alice, to the S and D Oyster Company in Dallas. It is one of her favorites and, as such, I always make it part of her birthday month package. As we entered the double front doors, a lady with a big smile and sparkling eyes, held the door for us. (Alice is on a walker for balance and I am recovering from a broken back - so we appreciated the help.) When we were seated it turned out that the same lady (Dina we were to discover) was our waitress. As she came to the table, she had that same warm smile and attitude and she maintained that disposition with prompt, courteous, and competent service during our extended stay. We knew from her welcoming smile that we were going to be well attended, and we were. In-person visits to clients' places of business are a MUST in my line of work. Even with a rock-solid briefing process, you can only get so much information from a Zoom call. Countless times, visiting teams on-site has helped us uncover key challenges before they become a problem. Like when no one mentioned users would access the system on the road without internet access. Things could have been interesting without that key detail! An in-person visit gives deeper insight into your needs and reinforces why I love what I do. At its core, it always comes down to problem-solving and people! Amongst others, this year has seen me visiting: 📍Castle Donnington 📍Oswestry, and 📍Manchester. I wonder where I’ll get to next year… 🤔 (also any businesses local to Hastings - I’m here if you need me!)
