Here's our Hil, Hilary Mines, chatting about the shocking statistics that Trussell published recently. Every penny counts for foodbanks at the moment. So, with that in mind, we are doing a short 10-day trundl dash for Trussell until midnight on the 19th December. trundl members can get a brain break from their desks or daily lives by taking stroll or walking the dog, repurposing any walk into a donation by pressing GO on the trundl app. With membership costing less than £1 a week, we regularly raise between £700 - £1000 every month as a community, without anyone having to fundraise themselves. Do join in if you also fancy turning your steps into good deeds ❤️ #esg #csr #walkingforhealth

🎁 Give more, save more. Your holiday generosity doesn’t just brighten someone’s day—it could also lower your tax bill. If you itemize, donations made before December 31 to qualifying charities may help reduce your taxable income. 📌 What to keep in mind: • Contributions can be monetary or donated goods (in good condition). • Always document your donations—receipts are key for filing. This holiday season, let your kindness give back in more ways than one. Have questions about how to make the most of your giving? As economic and financial conditions continue to pose a challenge for middle and lower income Americans, most charities still find themselves relying on a small (yet mighty) group of major donors to carry the financial load for their organizations. In some cases, nearly all of an org’s net income is given by a few dozen households. This is likely unsustainable for orgs and their supporters. In fact, I know of at least five orgs whose charitable benefactors— those actually covering a majority of their costs— have notified the charities that they intend to scale back future giving for a variety of reasons. If charities aren’t preparing for this by identifying and activating new major gifts, their future mission impact is at risk.

Have you heard of the “Three Jar Method” when it comes to raising financially responsible kids? This exercise not only incorporates a bit of arts & crafts; but most importantly instils lifelong skills into our children about how to build savings habits early, give back to our community, and have a little fun along the way. 1. Purchase 3 jars from your local craft store and have fun decorating them with your children. 2. Label the jars: Savings, Charity, and Fun. When your children receive their pocket money, give them the option of how much money they will contribute to each jar. When the Savings jar is full you can take your children to your local BOQ Branch to open their first savings account. When the Charity Jar is full, you can assist your child in researching an organisation they may identify with or feel passionate about helping where they would like to donate their money towards. And when the Fun jar is full, it’s time to do just that – have some fun with that money making some great memories. Happy crafting! #BOQNoosa #ThreeJarMethod #Savings

15 ways to teach kids about money continues. Stress the importance of giving. Once our children start making a little money, be sure you teach them about giving and being generous. Best idea for children this age, give your child a three-part money jar—one section for saving, one for spending, and one for donating. Let your child decide to which charity or a cause they would like to donate money to. How to practically apply this, they can start by taking a part of the money from their earnings/commissions to church for offerings on Sundays, or a choose a less privileged child in the family, or any child they may know or even someone they know who needs a little help. Eventually, they’ll see how giving doesn’t just help the other person—it feels good to you too.

You don’t always need cash to give back! 💡 For Giving Tuesday, I’m donating clothes and small appliances to a local nonprofit—and yes, these donations can be tax deductible too! 🧥👕 Whether it’s gently used clothes or household items, just remember to keep a record of your donations. The IRS often lets you deduct based on fair market value, so you’re not just decluttering—you’re also lowering your taxable income. Who else is giving back in creative ways this season? Share your ideas in the comments! 🙌✨ #GivingTuesday #NonCashDonations #DonateAndSave #TaxDeductible #DeclutterForACause #CreativeGiving #GiveBack #Philanthropy #SupportNonprofits #TaxSeasonTips #SeasonOfGiving #ClearTheClutter #CommunityImpact #DonateYourStuff #GivingWithoutCash #IRSdeductions #MakingADifference

🔔 Maximize Your Impact with a Smarter Way to Give! 🔔 At Easter Seals BC/Yukon, we're dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, and your support is vital to making that happen. But did you know there’s a smarter way to give that could benefit both you and the people we serve? Consider donating securities! 📈 When you donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds directly to a charity like Easter Seals, you can: ✔️ Avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the securities. ✔️ Receive a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of your donation. ✔️Make a bigger impact with the same investment, as more of your money goes directly to helping those in need. 💡 Why is this important? Securities donations are one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. By donating this way, you can potentially reduce your tax burden while ensuring more of your contribution goes towards our programs and services, such as accessible camps, adaptive equipment, and community support. Your generosity can make a lasting difference. Together, let's continue to break down barriers and build a more inclusive world. Ready to make a smart, impactful gift?
