We need to rethink the concept of two-income households and instead focus on building supportive communities. If you're single and have close friends, consider ways you can support each other. This applies to both men and women. Even if you're married or in a committed relationship, you can still find ways to live cooperatively and have a communal environment. Compatible! Many people are so focused on individual ownership that they overlook the value of a shared, supportive community. Personally, I would rather have a 6 or 10-bedroom house and live with compatible people, growing and evolving together. The traditional idea of individual home ownership as a marker of success has limited our perspectives on housing. Success can also mean creating a supportive community under one roof. Of course this isn't for everybody but it would definitely help in certain ways. #TrudeanHaye

Several people at #housing24 last week told me that residents feel so ashamed of their living conditions that they never invite their friends round. The stigma around social housing is clearly an issue that demands our attention. Reflecting on the Social Housing Act's aim, it's clear that everyone, regardless of their background or income, deserves a home that is safe, secure, and decent. We must strive to ensure that this fundamental right is upheld for all. Let's collectively prioritize initiatives that enhance people's daily lives. By focusing on areas like tackling litter and fly-tipping and addressing antisocial behavior, we can take meaningful steps towards creating more inclusive and supportive communities. #socialhousing #fireriskassessment #flytipping #buildingsafety #litter #antisocialbehaviour

As an agent, I've observed a growing need for multi-generational housing. Aging in place is no longer an option for many, and the homeless population is increasingly composed of older individuals like never before. The push for cities to provide affordable multi-generational housing is creating a win-win situation for younger families and parents on social security. Lennar Homes was an early adopter of this model, but rising material costs have caused them to move away from it in the DFW market. Are there any other builders in the affordable housing market offering multi-generational options? #multigenerationalhousing #affordablehousing #housingforall

https://lnkd.in/dBGqxeR9 According to the Pew Research Center, a quarter of all adults between the ages of 25 and 34 now live in a multigenerational living environment. From 1971 to 2021, the number of people living in multigenerational housing - often extending across 3 to 4 generations - grew to nearly 60 million people. And the trend is growing. Financial issues, including the lack of affordable housing, appear to be driving the surge. For those considering such housing, there are different types of multigeneraltional residential situations, and there are pros and cons to such living arrangements. #housing #housingaffordability #multigenerationalhousing #boommates
