Tuesday Career Move Tip for the Day! To help you stand out from other candidates, start by finding a position you are interested in and qualified for, then identify all the keywords and qualifications listed within the posting. It’s a good idea to tailor your resume to show how your work experience and education best qualify you to meet the specific job qualifications and keywords listed within that posting. Repeat this process for each position you are applying for, as HR staff, Software or Hiring Managers tend to filter qualified candidates by the same, or similar keywords to those stated in the original posting. Finally, don’t forget to follow up your resume and application with a personal email to HR or the Hiring Manager(s) expressing your continued interest and fit for this position. This small gesture will help you to stand out from other applicants and distinguish you from the rest in the field, as the hiring authority sorts through all the job applicants and related paperwork.

It's deeply concerning to witness the level of anxiety and frustration that so many talented and accomplished executive-level candidates are currently experiencing in their job search. This emotional toll seems to be steering them towards some unfortunate decisions. Among these, the adoption of an "it's a numbers game" mentality stands out as particularly ill-advised. Far from bringing the anticipated success, this approach only exacerbates the problems faced by already overstretched and under-resourced corporate executive recruiters, which, in turn, compromises the quality of candidate experiences. This creates, perpetuates, and escalates a cycle of frustration that can be challenging to break. This situation calls for a thoughtful reassessment of how we approach the job search process, aiming for strategies that can benefit all sides. Reach out to learn more at https://lnkd.in/eAWcNXAu

📌 This one simple question saved my client's career. I recently spoke with a client who was going to turn down a promotion to the board of directors because she feared the envy of her colleagues. Fortunately, I was able to change her mind by asking a simple question: "What are the options?" 1. You take the position. 2. A new hire takes the position. 3. One of your colleagues takes the position. Which option do you prefer? This simple reflection made her realize that any of the options 2+3 would be very frustrating for her. She knew she could do the job and that neither the colleague nor the new hire would do it better. 💡 Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective. What option would you have taken? #AskDrP 😎 #career 📌 Click on the 🔔 icon on my profile → Dr. Petra Wuest to get notified about my content as it’s posted.
