Last Friday Goteborg-Energi Nät hosted a workshop with Pixii AS, Eidsiva Peak Shaper, and forward leaning DSOs such as Vattenfall Eldistribution AB, Lidköping Energi, Kinnekulle Energi and Tidaholms Energi & Bostads AB, where we discussed how batteries can support local grids. It was very interesting to discuss issues such as over and under voltage, phase imbalances and large voltage amplitudes, and how BESS can be part of the solution. In Pixii AS, we believe BESS and smart inverters are great tools for handling these types of problems through services such as active/reactive power compensation and phase balancing, and through Value Stacking we are not only enabling a rapid green transition, but also ensuring that BESS becomes attractive investments. We truly believe BESS will be a key component in the grid moving forward, and we appreciate the interest from forward leaning DSOs! Omexom Deutschland, in collaboration with Seilflechter-Tauwerk GmbH and Sepa-Tech GmbH, has successfully developed an innovative pulley-based support catenary system “OSS Catenary System.” 🤝    💡 Why is it innovative? Catenary systems currently available on the market do not always provide optimal safety due to multiple factors such as induction danger, rope weight, and comfort. The estimation forces are fixed, which can lead to breakage, causing the blocks and conductors to fall to the ground.    The OSS Catenary system addresses these challenges: 🪢Ropes made from high-strength fibers, have a breaking load of up to 21 tons  🗜️Insertion of the catenary rope into the body of the roller block without the need for tools.  🔧Reduces installation time and simplifies the catenary system installation process.    This system has been used on two large-scale projects in Germany: constructing a new 380 kV line between Birkenfeld and Ötisheim for TransnetBW, and refurbishing a 380 kV line for another German TSO🚧   ➡️ https://shorturl.at/8wmXd #AgilityEffect VINCI Energies Deutschland

Reviving Bavaria's largest pumped-storage plant for a greener future💧 We're thrilled to announce the recommissioning of the Happurg pumped-storage plant, with an investment of around €250 million. This major step aligns with our strategy to invest into growth and green transformation. The plant will bolster energy storage and supply reliability in southern Germany. Michael Lewis, our CEO, highlights: “This investment is part of our previously announced strategy to invest in growth and transformation towards a greener business. We want 80 percent of our generation capacity to be carbon neutral by 2030, and the Happurg pumped-storage plant will be an important strategic part of that. Especially in southern Germany, with its strong industrial demand, there is a lack of predictable power plant capacity. With the Happurg pumped-storage plant, we want to make more storage capacity available again.“ The 160 MW Happurg plant, featuring a 209-meter drop height, can store approximately 850 MWh of electricity. After its precautionary shutdown in 2011, extensive studies and geotechnical assessments were conducted. The responsible approval authority, the Nuremberg District Office, has examined this concept favourably as part of a planning approval procedure. We're on track to bring Happurg back online by 2028. To be able to distribute your product to clients is an absolute prerogative for ANY industry. This also goes for the dawning sustainable hydrogen economy. Being gaseous hydrogen can only in any meaningful way be transported through a pipeline, if we operate on a larger scale. COWI has just been tasked by Energinet with conducting the initial studies ("Front End Engineering Design") on the inland Danish hydrogen pipeline - which is thus to be an absolute key enabler for hydrogen producers to utilize the large scale renewable energy potentials in the region by linking to significant off takers with pressing needs to decarbonize south of the Danish border. As COWI SVP Klaus Winther Ringgaard today is conveying in an article in Børsen, results of the study is to be presented in November this year - bringing us all a significant step closer in providing the solutions towards reaching the climate targets. https://lnkd.in/e5EpVtqE

Swiss and German perfection from a 71 year old company naturally begs Meyer Burger to move slow and cautiously. Did you know we gain our 45 patents by 2012 on today's best HJT Smartwire technology used by our partners, and now ourselves but did not roll it into production until 2018? For years, we have been testing our own HJT IBC modules that we ensure perfection as a fine wine. Then we are a good 6 years out with our world's leading Perovskite tandem technology. Nevertheless, we do not let the market climate dictate a rush to market, as it is clearly apparent with our competition. As I have stated before, for the last 40 years anyone wanting to get into the solar cell or module manufacturing business would come to Meyer Burger for our tooling, machines and technology.
