I experienced this first hand the other day, with a meal out. I’d never been to Flat Iron before, but they clearly understand the Peak End Rule. Well, they also know the importance of first impressions; with a tasty bowl of popcorn served up as soon as we sat down. But fast forward to the bill, and accompanying it came some mini cleavers, which turned out to be tokens for free (and really good) ice-cream. Yeah, I remember the highlight - the steak. But that ice-cream finish also stands out, and sure did help shape the way I (positively) remembered the overall experience I had! The lesson for festivals and events? You may not be able to shape and influence everyones peak ‘most intense’ points (the highlights), but you sure can try and do something when the time comes for them to leave. And what with the importance of immediately selling tickets for next year's event to this year's customer, the Peak End Rule is something you need to give some attention to. #Festivals #Events #FestivalMarketing #EventMarketing

Yep, we went to The #DoobieBrothers concert! Awesome! This concert brought me so much #joy! * The staff inside Choctaw Casinos & Resorts the concert venue were gracious and hospitable (food service not so much. I’ll save that for another post) * It was awesome singing out loud and dancing. I didn’t realize how many hits The Doobie Brothers had… and that I knew!!!! * I loved watching the crowd get lost in the joy of the music The moments and memories are priceless, and it was worth it! WHY THIS MATTERS: A quick reflection first - In March 2020, I asked consumers why certain activities (that had been taken away) brought them joy. This is one quote that has always stuck with me. “Music is organic - people naturally respond to, resonating in us like our own hearts beating. When it is shared with others it becomes a connector of the human experience. It helps my soul” Fast forward to today: Consumers are making choices about where and how to spend their money. Our data shows that consumers continue to go out less, but splurge more when they do. Whether you are in QSR to fine dining to a movie theater or concert venue, what will you do to create fabulous first impressions and memorable lasting impressions? #bringmorejoy #momentsandmemories #concerts #guestexperience

No one likes drinking alone. And the busier your taproom, the more each guest will spend. We analyzed thousands of taproom visits to see how the perceived level of busyness correlates to how much guests spend. Guests spent 38% more in packed taprooms compared to empty taprooms from 2017 to 2022. At one point, it was simply about the beer. Then the word 'experience' crept in. 'Experience' refers to every little aspect that contributes to a guest having a more memorable time. Their experience could be enhanced by something as basic as the music playing or something as extravagant as a decked-out anniversary celebration. See how by consistently facilitating and delivering these wow moments, you can see a busier taproom with higher tabs and more smiles.

🌟 Unlocking growth in the UK’s festival scene 🌟 With recent festival announcements of headliners creating a buzz, now’s the time for brands to gear up! Festivals offer a golden opportunity to connect with audiences—but are you ready to make the most of it? There’s untapped potential in the drink categories. Did you know only 16% of festivalgoers currently opt for cocktails, compared to 31% in On Premise settings? The gap isn’t just preference—it’s convenience. With nearly 23% of attendees open to trying cocktails if they were more portable and convenient, there’s a clear opportunity for suppliers and vendors to innovate. Festivalgoers already enjoy soft drinks (39%), lager (38%), and fruit cider (28%)—but cocktails could easily join their favourites with the right approach. The “Fearless Gin Sour” with Valley of Mother of God gin is the creation of Massimo Zitti, owner of Mother Cocktail Bar, and is a tribute to the global phenomenon that is Taylor Swift. Her six sold-out Eras Tour concerts in Toronto have significantly boosted the city’s economy. Destination Toronto estimated an economic impact exceeding $282 million, with over $152 million in direct spending. This financial surge is attributed to several factors: • Tourism and Hospitality: The concerts attracted approximately 240,000 attendees, many from outside Toronto. Hotel bookings for the concert dates were nearly 83% higher in downtown Toronto compared to the same period last year, with citywide demand up by 36%. • Local Businesses: Restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment venues experienced increased patronage. Moneris, a Canadian payment services provider, reported a 57% week-over-week increase in spending across all categories during the first three days of the Toronto leg of the tour. • Tax Revenue: The concerts generated nearly $40 million in tax revenue across all levels of government, benefiting public services and infrastructure. (Source: Chat GPT) Check out the Fearless Gin Sour video on Instagram for this delicious recipe.

DJing at the Philadelphia Chocolate, Wine & Whiskey Festival at the Philadelphia Expo was a true highlight for both my DJ career and festival-goers. A DJ’s role at a wine festival isn’t just about playing great tracks; it’s about curating the perfect atmosphere that complements the tasting experience. At events like these, it’s all about striking the right balance between energy and ambiance. The goal is to elevate the experience without overpowering it, letting the music flow seamlessly with the wine and chocolate pairings. Here’s how I approach DJing at a wine festival: 1. Setting the Tone: The music should reflect the sophistication and relaxed vibe of a wine festival. A smooth blend of jazz, soul, and chill house keeps the mood lively but not overwhelming. Also don’t forget about the hit songs they everybody knows and sings along to. 2. Reading the Crowd: As guests enjoy their tastings, it’s important to gauge their energy. A DJ should adapt the tempo as the event progresses. Starting with more relaxed beats and building up as the evening unfolds. 3. Creating a Memorable Moment: For any festival, it’s about more than just music. I focus on delivering a complete sensory experience that people will remember long after the event ends. Event Planners: What to Look for in Entertainment When planning a wine festival, choosing the right DJ is key to creating an atmosphere that guests will love. Here’s what to consider: • Versatility: Can the DJ read the room and adapt the music as needed? • Event Experience: Has the DJ worked similar events where balance and ambiance are crucial? • Professionalism: The DJ should understand the vibe of your event and enhance it with their music selection and timing. The right DJ transforms a good event into a great one.
