Is the big ugly coming for the real-time visibility space? Not quite. The truth is, it is already here and is ready to expand. WiseTech Global is quietly asserting itself as the industry leading provider of real-time visibility to global forwarders and 3PLs. Their claims to their customer base and partner network are simple: they have the best data and with the release of NEO, the best front-end to provide actionable insights to the BCOs. Is this true? There is no doubt that they are the most connected software platform out here - with direct access to the world's biggest ocean carriers and the air cargo providers. And we all know that the incumbents haven't exactly been delivering on their promises when it comes to visibility quality and reliability. CargoWise are in a dominent position to wipe the floor with the likes of Shippeo, FourKites, Inc., and project44. How? The incumbents have moved slowly and lacked innovation over the past decade - allowing newcomers to learn from and benefit from previous mistakes. They have developed a habit for charging their customers for things they do not necessarily want to use. In this case, I can see CargoWise making visibility a mandatory charge, even if their customers prefer to use third-party data. This will lead to the forwarders cancelling their contracts with the visibility specialists IF the data is of similar quality. Add NEO to the picture, and that's the front-end providers like Logixboard, Raft and Prompt Global needing to up their game. And it won't stop there. WiseTech will be after the BCOs next, potentially causing even more pain for the visibility specialists. More details in this week's newsletter. Very exciting time for companies looking for visibility solutions, as the new blood may force the incumbents to make bold moves or be caught with their pants down and no moat. One big question remains - what will happen to the current "Big 3"? Consolidation? PE acquisition? Or will they make like the dinosaurs and disappear? #freight #visibility #tech #data #supplychain #shipping #logistics

"The big ugly" often refers to significant market disruptions or downturns. In the context of the real-time visibility space, which typically involves technologies and services that provide immediate access to data and insights (often used in logistics, supply chain management, finance, etc.), several factors could contribute to such a disruption: Economic Downturn: A global or regional economic recession could lead to reduced investment in new technologies, affecting companies offering real-time visibility solutions. Technological Advancements: Rapid changes in technology might render current solutions obsolete, requiring companies to adapt quickly or risk losing market share. Regulatory Changes: New regulations around data privacy and security could impose additional costs and operational challenges for companies in this space. Competitive Pressure: Increased competition from new entrants or existing players could lead to price wars, reduced margins, and consolidation within the industry. Supply Chain Disruptions: Major disruptions in global supply chains (e.g., due to geopolitical tensions, pandemics) could impact the demand for real-time visibility solutions. Customer Behavior: Shifts in customer expectations and behavior could drive the need for more sophisticated or different types of visibility solutions. Understanding the specific factors at play and how companies in the real-time visibility space are preparing for or responding to these challenges will be crucial in assessing the potential for "the big ugly" to hit this sector. 4o

The story is clear, and the numbers speak for themselves. According to the report by ‘reuters events in partnership with CargoWise’ an astounding 82% of industry leaders have significantly upped their technology investments since 2020, a testament to their unwavering belief in the transformative power of digital tools. But what triggered this surge in technology investments? The answer lies in disruptions experienced in global supply chains. The post-pandemic peaks, geopolitical shifts, and the evolving economic landscape acted as a wake-up call. Suddenly, the status quo was no longer an option. The need for efficiency and productivity became paramount. These investments aren't merely trends; they are a strategic, forward-thinking response to the growing demands of modern logistics. The avenues of choice? Supply chain management systems, digital documentation, and warehouse automation. These stand out for their potential to redefine the very essence of logistics as we know it. By adopting automated systems and smart inventory management, replacing cumbersome paperwork and manual documentation with agile digital systems, logistics companies aren't just reducing costs; they are streamlining workflows, minimizing errors, and enabling seamless information exchange. As platinum accredited service partners of CargoWise, and as experts in supply chain management systems, digital transformation, and strategic consultancy, we don't just implement these technologies; we tailor them for your teams. The future has arrived, and it's digital, efficient, and customer-focused. #SFL #digitallyelvate #supplychainmanagement #strategicconsultancy #cargowise #digitaltransformation

“𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀?” – 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 & 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 📢 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒖𝒕... 🔮 𝑶𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒕...? Thank you to everybody who has shown interest in the video mini-series within which we explored how the future of Logistics will likely shape up, and in particular thank you to my amazing guests – Thomas Skellingsted, Oliver Raab, Peter Gyde, Konrad Osiadacz, Matthew Roberts, & Trine Storgaard Nielsen – who kindly took the time to share their insights and opinions to help shape a clearer view of what the industry COULD look like… We aimed to cover all Logistics product/mode areas and managed to gain insight from 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 too! We discussed topics such as 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗔𝗜, and the 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗽 to name just a few, and it still doesn’t feel like an exhaustive list of key areas for evolution either. I’m excited to announce that in the coming weeks I will write an article to pull together the views and define a path forwards of sorts for our industry. In the meantime, I invite you to share your thoughts and insights in the comments below (or by direct message). Your input is invaluable as we navigate today’s climate and work together to ensure our industry progresses bit by bit. Thanks in advance! #logistics #evolution #futureoflogistics
