Recently, ARI’s Co-Founder and Executive Director, Jamie Wright, graduated Delta Regional Authority’s Delta Leadership Institute in Jackson, MS. DLI Fellows represent each of the eight DRA states and are selected by the eight governors and the federal co-chairman from a competitive pool representing the public and private sectors. During the nine-month program, fellows attend six sessions held in different locations across the region and focus on areas such as transportation, infrastructure, government relations, and regional collaboration. The 2024 Class began last October in New Orleans, LA, with sessions in Little Rock, AR, Baton Rouge, LA, Carbondale, IL, Cape Girardeau, MO, and Jackson, MS. "DLI has been one of the greatest experiences both professionally and personally. To be among this group of servant leaders was humbling. I am thankful for the opportunity, our leadership team, and those who were on this journey alongside me." – Jamie R. Wright The DRA was established in 2000 as a formal framework for joint federal-state collaboration to promote and encourage the economic development of the lower Mississippi River and Alabama Black Belt regions. To fulfill this purpose, DRA invests in projects supporting transportation infrastructure, basic public infrastructure, workforce training and business development. DRA’s region encompasses 252 counties and parishes in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. A new report from the Construction Leadership Council sets out a framework of the core overarching knowledge, skills and behaviours required to deliver effective retrofit of homes at scale, both in retrofit-specific roles and associated roles in the industry. Did you know EdTrust-Midwest was among the many organizations across Michigan that understood the importance of implementing new national college- and career-ready standards and of Michigan’s leadership in the development of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium? These initiatives enabled Michigan to adopt an assessment system that was aligned with higher national standards and comparable across more than 20 states using the same system. We had another impactful session of Multifamily Facilities Leadership Council yesterday. Huge shoutout to fellow leaders who joined and contributed their expertise: Jay Abney, CPO, CAMT, NAAEI Faculty Trainer/Proctor, Tim Turner, Joshua Patrick, Chris VanDruff MILR, CFM, CRE and Robert Pass. In this session, we focused on key strategies for elevating recruitment: 🔹 Evaluating Candidate Skills with Pre-Employment Assessments – We explored how pre-employment assessments can pinpoint the exact skills needed for success in facilities roles, allowing us to make more informed hiring decisions. 🔹 Ensuring Consistency Across Hiring Processes – Consistency is key to building strong teams. We discussed standardizing our hiring practices to ensure that all candidates are evaluated fairly and thoroughly, no matter the property or location. Strategem facilitated a powerful leadership session today with the Greater Sydney Parklands Executive Committee on developong the refreshed strategic priorities 2025+. Robust discussion ensued on how we can be "a city of connected parklands" and deliver on our purpose "caring for parklands and connecting communities." The emerging themes picked up: prosperity, social and environmental sustainability; community conversations; culture, capacity and capability building; and operational excellence. Focusing on the outside in, the resident and visitor experience. These are the strategic discussions that shape GSPs future direction. Volunteering your time and expertise to focus on specific initiatives, issues, and programs of importance to our industry, as well as meeting the needs of our membership, is crucial. Through your continued involvement and support, you can help us reach some of our future goals of regional program development, Certification, and scholarships for national events. Remember, our Region was formed to provide industry  professionals a means for professional interaction, professional development, and networking and to provide CILT benefits at the local level. Without your support and continued involvement, we cannot function as a Region.
