Does it do what it says on the tin... There are a host of products on the passive fire protection market which are designed for specific applications, but are mis-understood and therefore applied by trades who don't fully understand the stipulations and limitations of the product. One of the common ones is the magic paint which in the mind of trades turns any standard door into a fully compliant fire door. The product manufacturer claims it can increase the fire rating by up to 60 minutes. Slap it on all over, and hey presto, a standard door turns into a fire door ..... not! There are many aspects which make fire doors completely different from a standard door. It starts with the basic construction and material composition, and moves through many additional aspects which need to be considered, before finally been installed as a complete system which replicates the door system which was tested by the manufacturer. Until people understand the constraints of products, and how they should be applied, we'll keep finding "fire doors" like this one as part of our surveys as Fire Consultancy Specialists. #firedoor #firedoors #buildingsafety #propertymanagement #estatemanagement #responsibleperson #passivefireprotection #socialhousing

What are cavity barriers? Why are cavity barriers important for fire safety? Do I need my cavity barriers inspected for fire compliance? Cavity barriers are crucial components of passive fire protection systems designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke within a building. Installed within concealed spaces such as wall cavities, floor voids, and roof voids, these barriers help maintain compartmentation, limiting the rapid spread of fire from one area to another.
