‘Tis the season to sparkle and splash a little extra creativity around! At Torque, the holidays are our time to bask in the bold, the beautiful, and the delightfully unexpected—just like the amazing people we work with every day (yes, that’s you!). This year, we’re skipping the fruitcake and reindeer sweaters (though we do love a good ugly sweater party) and giving a gift that truly shines. We’re excited to be making a holiday donation to Arts of Life, a community that celebrates creativity in its most vibrant, authentic, and inspiring forms. Arts of Life offers artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities an alternative career path designed to help enrich their lives as working artists #happyholidays #torquedigital

At our recent ribbon-cutting event, I was proud to announce that Cleanlogic is the first company to be certified with the Inspiration Foundation Seal. T o kick off this partnership, Michael Ghesser and I contributed a $50,000 donation to The Inspiration Foundation—an organization I co-founded with my mom and Mike to empower and advance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Two years ago, during our last Dining in the Dark event, I made a bold commitment: to increase employment for individuals with disabilities by 10%. Since then, Mike and I have been working hard to turn that vision into reality. The Inspiration Foundation Seal is the solution we developed after 18 years of experience leading both a for-profit company and a nonprofit. We realized that the high unemployment rate among people with disabilities will persist unless more for-profit businesses commit to hiring them. In 2020, we chose to lead by example by hiring individuals with disabilities within our own operations. Over the past two years, we’ve collaborated with leaders in the disability community to create a playbook that helps other companies build inclusive workforces. We believe lasting change comes when businesses experience the positive impact and cultural value that hiring individuals with disabilities brings to the workplace. The Inspiration Foundation Seal not only certifies companies committed to this mission but also connects them to a global network of allies—family, friends, employers, and policymakers—who are united in driving this movement forward. With over 61 million people with disabilities in the U.S., we’re working to build a community of champions who will lead the charge in the business world, supported by the Inspiration Foundation. These companies will be rewarded by consumers who value inclusivity in the products and services they choose. By certifying with the Inspiration Foundation, businesses will help us reach our goal of increasing employment for individuals with disabilities by 10%, creating lasting and positive change.
A huge thank you to Cleanlogic for their generous $50,000 donation to help fund the launch of The Inspiration Foundation Seal! We are thrilled to unveil our updated website featuring the new Inspiration Seal and logo. This seal represents our commitment to creating more inclusive workplaces by certifying companies that actively hire individuals with disabilities. We look forward to sharing more details soon on how your company can join this important movement and become certified with the Inspiration Foundation Seal. Stay tuned for updates on how you can be part of driving positive change for individuals with disabilities in the workforce!

READ..LAUGH...WALK...DONATE...REPEAT As many know, I joined the SMILE Mass team last July as the Director of Communications. This has been a job that fulfilled a long-time dream of working with and advocating for families raising children and adults with disabilities to live happy, healthy lives through education, recreation, and vacation opportunities. In the year that I’ve been involved with SMILE Mass, we’ve made great strides, growing the organization, raising funds, and helping more and more families with disabled family members. I feel good about the part I’ve played in this. If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Those who have come to know me may have witnessed that I’m an overachiever. I dive into things with both feet and I love to raise the bar high. Sometimes I end up neck deep, but most times I land on my feet and experience life to its fullest. It’s a positive trait, I suppose, but as I get older and, unfortunately further from my prime, I occasionally bite off more than I can chew. As the saying goes, it now takes me all night to do, what I used to do all night long. So, when I registered for this year’s Falmouth 7.3-mile road race so I could run side by side with 15 of my SMILE Mass teammates, I assumed that I could lace ‘em up, get in a few months of training by running from one telephone pole to the next, and increase by a pole each day. By race day, I’d be ready to plod the 7.3 miles at a similar speed as I ran it here in 2015…see the tortoise and the hare…slow and steady. Pictured here is really out of shape me, finishing a 5K, fat and winded but still standing. Today, I’ve accepted the fact that I can no longer push the old jalopy to 3 miles, let alone 7.3. My time is now measured by flips of a calendar page and not a stopwatch. Time to hang up the cleats. BUT-as an overachiever, here is my compromise. During the week of 8/11 to 8/17, I will walk 36.5 miles to raise money for SMILE Mass, or 5 times the distance that my in-shape teammates are running and I ask you to support me in my journey. Please make a donation of ANY size to my fundraising page. I’d love you to consider $1 per mile or $36.50 but will graciously accept $1, $5, $10…Any amount will propel me towards my goal of $1500 to help families raising children and adults with disabilities. For those friends who have already donated to SMILE Mass through the purchase of a legacy brick, coffee club sponsorship, or more over the previous months, I thank you and ask you to step to the plate again on my behalf. Hope this outreach has brought a SMILE to your face. Love Todd https://lnkd.in/dhkv8Daf

Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth Anvaya Feats wants everyone to Read Without Limits to Increase Pride, Accomplishments, and Awareness! This July, celebrate Disability Pride Month by joining us in "Read Without Limits," a month-long fundraising campaign to increase #braille and #accessibility features in children's and young adult literature and games! Why It Matters: - Children and Young Adults within the #Blind and #VisuallyImpaired community are more likely to fall into the category of: illiterate. - Though braille and #AssistiveTechnology can be a challenge in the beginning, introducing content, characters, and engaging activities that promote learning through curiosity and play, can motivate individuals to persevere. - For youth with #disabilities, accessible literature and games are gateways to #literacy, imagination, and essential skills. How can the resources Anvaya Feats develops help? Our braille embossed stories help: - Foster a love of reading and open doors to new worlds. - Improve language development and communication skills. - Enhance self-confidence and social interaction. - Provide opportunities for learning and skill development that translate later to employment. What impact will donations make? Every dollar raised will help with: - Braille transcription of our Anvaya Kids and Anvaya Feats young adult books. - Development of audio descriptions and text-to-speech features in the games developed by our interns. - Paid opportunities for internship participants from marginalized and disabled communities who help create inclusive content. #AnvayaFeats is a #nonprofit advocating for and providing opportunities for visibility, growth, and employment to youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities by engineering #inclusive and accessible projects, environments, and organizational cultures. Aspire Chicago isn’t just an organization—it’s a lifeline for reimagining what’s possible for people with disabilities. Your support this Giving Tuesday could make all the difference. Let me tell you more about my son, Connor- he’s my inspiration. Connor wakes up daily to challenges that most of us can’t imagine. And he meets them with resilience, grace, and a sense of determination that floors me. He’s taught me that potential is limitless when given the right opportunities—and that’s precisely what Aspire Chicago delivers. Aspire Chicago doesn’t just create programs; it creates futures. It doesn’t just talk about inclusion; it builds it. When I think of Connor, I think of every parent's dream: for their child to belong, thrive, and feel seen. Aspire Chicago makes those dreams possible for countless families like mine. Here’s what I’m asking: please consider a gift today using this link ---- https://lnkd.in/gziy5Gpz Connor deserves it, and every family deserves it. When we back organizations like Aspire Chicago, we’re building a better future for all of us. Thank you for stepping up. Let’s make this Giving Tuesday count. #GivingTuesday #AutismAcceptance #InclusionMatters

On this last day of April, I want to share my sincere thanks to the RTX ADAPT Leaders and community for their amazing events and efforts this month. Your support and commitment to embracing neurodiversity is truly inspiring. Together, we’ve taken important steps toward greater understanding and acceptance of autism. As we continue our journey, here are a few ways to keep the momentum going: 1. Education: Stay curious! Read books, watch documentaries, and follow organizations that focus on autism awareness and inclusion. 2. Advocacy: Support policies and initiatives that promote accessibility, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for autistic individuals. 3. Community Involvement: Engage with local groups that support autistic people and their families. Consider volunteering or donating to organizations that make a difference. 4. Conversations: Keep talking about autism. Share stories, experiences, and resources to keep the dialogue open and inclusive. 5. Kindness: Practice empathy and respect in all interactions. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Thank you again for being part of this incredible community. Together, we can continue to create a world where everyone is valued and accepted for who they are. 💙 #AutismAwareness #InclusionMatters #RTXADAPT

Today is the International Day of Charity which felt like a fitting time to take a little walk down memory lane. 👉 We’d love to know when you first became aware of us and why? Perhaps we could find the person who has known us the longest! If you didn’t already know, Designability was first established as a charity in 1968 (though we were called something different back then) and since we first began, we have created over 300 products, improving the lives of more than 300,000 people; from the bottom wiper which has enabled over 94,000 people with limited movement to be independent in their personal hygiene, to the day clock, enabling over 18,000 people with dementia to know the time of day in a simple way, and the iconic Wizzybug powered wheelchair, which has helped over 1,400 disabled children across the UK to be independently mobile. We’ve also pioneered research into the needs of disabled people which are not fulfilled elsewhere and the application of new technologies for disabled people, which have resulted in new products and new ways of thinking about assistive technology. https://lnkd.in/e-u_quNy [Video description: A very brief visual oversight of some of the work from Designability over the years, showing a range of images of different products and technologies that the charity has designed, developed and engineered for disabled people]. #Designability #AccessibleProducts #InclusiveDesign #AssistiveTechnology #DesignForGood
