As pet ownership increases, more companies are embracing pet-friendly policies to boost employee satisfaction and retention. My The Charlotte Ledger colleague Cristina Bolling took a closer look at this trend and found: 🐶 Many companies now offer pet insurance. In 2022, 36% of U.S. companies with over 500 workers provided pet insurance, a significant increase from five years earlier. Catapult Employers Association says that 8.9% of companies that responded to its 2022 N.C. Healthcare Benefits & Cost Survey said they offer pet insurance. 🐶 Some companies have added benefits such as "pawternity leave" (when a new pet is brought into one's house) and pet bereavement leave. 🐶 Pet-related benefits can make companies more attractive to potential hires, especially younger workers who are focused on their pets. Catapult's Stephanie Dillon, PHR, SHRM-CP said that companies should start by assessing the needs of their workers: “You really need to take a step back and say, ‘What do people want?’ When you’re looking at implementing a total rewards strategy, what is beneficial to these people?” ➡️ Read Cristina's article — "Company benefits are going to the dogs" — here, from The Charlotte Ledger newsletter last week: https://lnkd.in/e_rzZKG3
