The 2025 EY Open Science AI & Data Challenge, centered around the topic of urban heat islands, is on! Due to building density and lack of green space, urban areas are often significantly warmer than surrounding rural areas. Between urban and rural settings, temperature variations can exceed as much as 10-degrees Celsius and cause significant impact on societal well-being and energy resources. Challenge participants will use data and AI for good to create machine learning models to determine where hotspots exist and are likely to develop, making the case for more green infrastructure, leading-edge building practices, and urban design that brings cooling relief to vulnerable communities. The competition officially begins on January 20, 2025, but you can register today. All output from the challenge has the potential to help solve the problem with heat islands, and top entrants will be eligible for cash prizes. https://lnkd.in/grqDGGxM The EY Open Science AI & Data Challenge. Join us at the intersection of innovation and impact. #EY #AI #OpenScience
