The Biggest Lesson I've Learned as a Freelancer… Freelancing has completely changed how I view my career. Over the past three years, I've learned invaluable lessons about work-life balance, productivity, and flexibility. Let me share a secret with you. If you have in-demand skills but aren’t getting paid what you’re worth, it’s time to consider freelancing. Before I started freelancing, I struggled with long hours and low pay. But now, I have the freedom to set my rates, choose my projects, and maintain a better work-life balance without leaving out my steeze😀. Here’s my message for you today: It’s never too late to take control of your career and start valuing your skills. Freelancing offers the flexibility to work on your terms and get paid what you deserve. What about you? Do you prefer working from home or onsite? Let’s talk about it in the comments!

As a fellow freelancer, I completely agree with your insights. Freelancing has allowed me to have a better work-life balance and has given me the freedom to choose projects that align with my values and interests. One lesson I've learned is the importance of networking and building relationships with clients. It not only helps with finding new projects but also leads to long-term partnerships and referrals. In terms of working location, I prefer a mix of both working from home and onsite. It allows me to have the flexibility to work in a comfortable environment while also having face-to-face interactions with clients when necessary.

Hi TOLU A. I enjoyed reading your post. I became a freelance translator by default. In quest of financial security, (ideally according to me provided by civil service) I was rejected more than once and I had to figure out a plan B. The truth is even before I graduated, I had been freelancing unknownly. But with these rejections and plenty of exposure, I got more intentional about my freelance career and I realise how ideal it could be me. Though often very uncertain especially concerning work flow, branding and challenging as I need to be twice cautious with my cashflow as I know not when professional drought shall come, I won't trade the freedom freelancing gives me for nothing!

Freelancing has its perks, I must admit. But starting out, it doesn't really give you that experience you get from working in a cross-functional team. I would say, work in teams starting out, get experience, and then go into freelancing. I'm glad you found your flexibility to work on your terms. And I love freelancing though!

T. completely agree that for some people freelancing is the ultimate opportunity. I think it depends if they value flexibility or security. Personally I wish there'd been the same level of freelancing opportunity earlier in my career
