How do I control my Brain Tumour Symptoms? 🌸🧠 While I cannot control my symptoms, as once you’ve got them, you’ve got them. They can be helped… One of the main things I have been doing is retraining my brain to regain balance and coordination in my body. And it really does work. I did the same 14 years ago, and I’ve been doing it again now. Recently, I even wore high heels to an event, and I couldn’t have even entertained that thought a year ago. I managed to dance and walk with no issues whatsoever! 🤯👠 I am also deaf in one ear, which can complicate my balance and coordination. I do wear hearing aids, which does help! 🦻 I also struggle hugely with numbers! Timings are not my friend. Luckily, I have Sally to help me with cooking! That’s not to say, I won’t ever give a try. But at times it’s safer as since I have weakness on my right side because of a stroke. It is something I’ve always wanted to relearn, and Sally has promised she’ll teach me soon! Memory loss is also a big symptom. There are two main techniques I use to tackle it, - One is social media and taking photos to jog my memory. However, it’s not always successful, and gives more of a feeling than anything else. I also find repetition can help too. But that’s not to say that it works every time. Everyday can be a real challenge dealing with these symptoms, especially as each day can be so different. But, I try and take each day as it comes! #BrainTumourSymptoms #BrainTumourAwareness To find out more you can find me Officially Lisa Connell on all socials ✨ https://lnkd.in/eAN-wvHs

Today is Swallowing Awareness Day (13 March 2024). Like breathing, swallowing is essential to everyday life. Humans swallow approximately 700 times a day. People who have trouble swallowing are at risk of choking, poor nutrition and dehydration, while babies and children with difficulty feeding may not take in enough nutrients to support growth and brain development. Difficulty in swallowing foods and/or regularly requiring a drink when eating are symptoms of eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). If you, or a loved one, are experiencing difficulty swallowing (#dysphagia) it’s important to discuss with your doctor as there could be many reasons and help is possible. Find out more about EoE and other symptoms experienced on our website: https://lnkd.in/gMr3SUNW Visit Speech Pathology Australia to learn more about #SwallowingAwarenessDay: www.bit.ly/SwallowingAD #SwallowAware2024 #LetsTalkAboutSwallowing

🌟 Is memory loss a normal part of aging? 🤔 Understanding the distinctions between normal age-related memory changes and abnormal memory loss is crucial for an early diagnosis and proper support. - Normal Aging: Occasional forgetfulness, such as misplacing items or occasionally struggling to find the right word. - Abnormal Memory Loss: Frequent forgetting of important dates, repeatedly asking the same questions, or having difficulty following instructions. - Possible Causes: Stress, depression, sleep disorders, certain medications, and medical conditions like Alzheimer’s disease or stroke. - Brain Health Tips: Stay mentally active, engage in regular physical exercise, maintain a balanced diet, and foster strong social connections. While some memory changes are a natural part of aging, significant memory loss is not. If you notice troubling signs, seeking medical advice early can be crucial. Early diagnosis and intervention can make a substantial difference. 💡👩⚕️👨⚕️ Have questions or need more information? Please share them in the comments.
