I applauded (internally) to the insight that college IS not big enough get all children to a fulfilling adult life... and it never WAS!
100% Agree 👏
Society has always offered multiple pathways to make a meaningful recognized contribution to community and economy.
We must continue.

Is there anything more important than helping our children improve the world that we have all been part of creating? We have real work to do to reconnect the segmented society that we navigate every day.
Can we actively plan for a world with more connection, less loneliness, and more empathy? Yes. But it takes intention, and it starts in schools. That's why we created an empathy curriculum for public and government schools across Asia and Africa. But it's only a small drop in the ocean.
Every day, I see the evidence of how much we could all benefit from more personal forms of communication, deeper questions, and true listening. 52% of us are lonely, and it's killing us. If we can bring up children who see this need to connect and listen to each other as natural and normal, our future will look very different. We all deserve to be seen and heard, but do your kids have the skills? And is your school helping them enhance them?
The fourth revolution is changing how our children (and our leaders) need to connect and build community. The train to the future is travelling fast, but are you and your children on board?
From a conversation with Lara Varlamova on her podcast On Speaking Terms.

WHY DIVERGENT THINKERS BEAT GENIUSES IN THE REAL WORLD. David Epstein. - concise clear video-.
This is one more side of a coin that I wrote before regarding Autistic spectrum on a peculiar diagnosis: a teacher triggers the alarm in kindergarden and that's all it takes. Straight to exclusion expelling a very young child to " special needs " children.
Today, more than ever we need a change including the " special" children in normal class. That is called diversity and equal opportunities. Inclusion.
Develop potential talents in young children is better than dumping them out of society.
We need no university studies to be clever and educated. There are so many other skills that must be used by seeing reality under another perspective. Exactly what is needed today.
Stimulate other skills development is much better than cutting the wings of children in the first year of the elementary school.
Let's not forget the immigrants who speak another language at home and their protective environment. I really hate the concept of " concentration schools" as it is frequently referred to those " darker" children born in a new country by migrating parents.
Teach how to fish instead of giving a fish. Then they will have more chances to have a normal life.

Scott Galloway's TED Talk titled "How the US Is Destroying Young People’s Future":
https://lnkd.in/ezes6k36
Scary true story about young versus old income and chances. In netherlands same issues, just less extreme
1. **Economic Challenges for Youth**: declining economic prospects for younger generations, noting they earn less in real terms than previous generations.
2. **Skyrocketing Costs**: He highlights the exponential increase in costs for education and housing, which outpaces income growth for young people.
3. **Wealth Disparity by Age**: The talk points out the growing wealth disparity between age groups, with older generations holding a disproportionate share of wealth.
4. **Failures of Higher Education**: Galloway criticizes higher education for becoming increasingly expensive and inaccessible, serving the interests of institutions more than students.
5. **Luxury Brand Analogy**: He compares elite universities to luxury brands, which restrict supply to increase demand and prices, thus exacerbating educational inaccessibility.
6. **Minimum Wage Stagnation**: The stagnation of the minimum wage is discussed as a failure to keep pace with productivity, highlighting the undervaluation of young workers' labor.
7. **Housing Market Exclusion**: Young people are increasingly priced out of the housing market, with median home prices rising much faster than median incomes.
8. **Transfer of Wealth**: Galloway describes systemic policies and practices that have resulted in a significant transfer of wealth from the young to the old.
9. **Social Security Critique**: He critiques the structure of Social Security, suggesting it disproportionately benefits the wealthy and elderly at the expense of the young.
10. **Vocational Education and Nontraditional Degrees**: Galloway proposes expanding vocational education and nontraditional degree offerings to better meet job market demands and the needs of students.
11. **Public Investment in Education**: He advocates for increased public investment in higher education to make it more affordable and accessible.
12. **Corporate Profits vs. Wages**: The imbalance between rising corporate profits and stagnant wages for workers is highlighted as a key issue of economic inequality.
13. **Political Representation Issues**: Galloway points out that older generations are better represented politically, influencing policies that favor their interests.
14. **Need for Educational Reform**: He calls for a reform in educational policy to focus on scaling technology and reducing tuition costs.
15. **Ageism and Political Leadership**: The talk includes a critique of the age of political leaders who may not understand or prioritize the challenges facing younger generations.
20. **Vision for a Reformed Future**: Galloway concludes with a vision for systemic changes that would restore fairness and opportunity, enabling younger generations to thrive economically and socially.
I delivered DEI training with foster carers this morning and my preamble was deeeep.
This visual epitomises the crux of the matter, really well….
Why?
Well…I have delivered this training (in a range of guises) for over 20 years…and my slides change periodically…
But…
My reflections change things…every.single.time….
Foster carers Chrysalis Care attend this core training every year and each year, we reflect, we share, we renew our thinking.
Our individual and collective growth mindset is crucial.
