🌾 Traders Point Farm 🌾 Nestled in Marion and Boone County, Indiana, the Traders Point Farm has been a family legacy for over 100 years. Originally a dairy farm, it transitioned to raising beef cattle, row crops, and hay over the past decade. Matt and Joni Gordon have managed the farm together for the last 19 years, continuing Matt’s family farming tradition from Rush County. They raised their four kids on the farm and now enjoy watching their grandkids visit and play there. This harvest season, the Gordons partnered with Four-D Trucking, a family-run business out of Rush County, to haul their corn using a 2004 Timpte trailer. The Gordons and Four-D Trucking have been close friends for over 20 years, united by a shared commitment to farming and community. Joni has also been part of the Timpte Whitestown team for a little over a year, proudly serving farmers and haulers like herself every day. 📸 Here's a picture of their beautiful farm taken during the day and night! #Timpte #TimpteTrailer #Harvest #ForAllYouPutIn

1. Introduction: After months of preparation and hard work, my little farm is finally finished! This is a great journey from starting with piglets to the farm becoming a complete facility, meeting the family's agricultural production needs. 2. The first stage - choose to buy piglets: In the beginning, choosing healthy piglets is an extremely important factor. I spent a lot of time learning about the different breeds of pigs, as well as how to care for them from a young age. In the end, I selected a healthy litter of piglets, with clear origins and from a reputable breeding farm. 3. Preparing the environment for raising pigs: After buying piglets, I focused on building a barn for them. The barn is designed to be airy, clean, and warm in winter. Besides, I also invest in an automatic feeding system and a cooling system to ensure that the piglets are always in the best condition. 4. Care and Nurturing: Caring for piglets requires patience and meticulousness. From feeding on time to monitoring their health every day, I always put my heart and soul into each stage of their development. Thanks to careful care, piglets grow quickly, healthily and without health problems. 5. Results - Completed Small Farm: After a period of perseverance and effort, I witnessed the maturation of the pigs. My small farm has not only become an independent source of food for the family, but also provides a steady source of income. The most important thing is that I have learned a lot of valuable experience in agriculture and animal husbandry. 6. Conclusion: The construction and completion of the small farm starting from raising piglets has brought me a lot of joy and achievement. This is a memorable journey and I feel proud of what I have achieved. The small farm is not only a personal project, but also an important part of my life, contributing to ensuring food security for my family.

Texas Ranchers Need Our Help With over a million acres of Texas Panhandle ranch land burned, now is the time to step up and help our neighbors in need! We have brokered a deal with a feed mill here in our area to manufacture an all-purpose feed that is safe for horses, cattle, goats, and sheep - at cost! They have agreed to make as much as we can buy to send to the Texas Panhandle. As of March 7, 2024, we have delivered 55 tons of feed and arranged delivery to West Texas at no cost - all donated trucking. Several more tons are purchased for next weeks delivery! We are not asking you just for financial support, but also help to reach corporations and generous business-minded people who want to help these generational ranchers who have lost everything. Fox News interviewed Lee Wells and published a breaking news story on March 6, 2004, and the Dallas Morning News released a story on March 8, 2024, detailing this effort! That story was just printed as the Saturday Front Page Story! These surviving cattle need good nutrition. The feed we are sending will help sustain them and give them a shot at living through this trauma. Many ranches are sending hay, but feed is expensive. This discounted feed still costs $325 per ton, so we need real funding to support this cause for the next several weeks and months. Our goal is to send a minimum of 50 tons per week! The West Texas ground is dry and will not grow grass for a while - it will be months before these pastures regrow. We are arranging the relocation of over 1500 bales of hay into the panhandle as well over the next several days and weeks. We need fuel funds for the many volunteer drivers donating their time and equipment to haul this donated hay. Thousands of people are coming together - We need your help! It goes without saying, but we are not making anything on this endeavor. I have sent several thousands of dollars worth of hay this past week from my ranch, and will continue to give money and time to these wonderful ranchers digging out of this vast disaster. We are simply grateful it is not our ranch on fire. There is no more efficient or effective way to help these men and women! We can use your donation 100% toward feed and fuel! That feed will be onsite within the week, and feeding starving livestock in need. Please give something today! Stay tuned this week - Tae Lewis will be on the Ranch and Table Podcast with Lee Wells to discuss his journey on The Voice singing country music, and help raise awareness for the wildfires in the Texas Panhandle. Our team visited one of our #women smallholder farmers' #cooperative communities; just when we arrived, a young boy, too, came with a dead sheep dripping with blood tied at the back of his bicycle. A moving vehicle knocked the sheep while crossing the road to the other side of the #community to feed itself. The scene was gory, and I couldn't share it here. The women grieved for the sheep's lose, a hard-earned #investment waiting to be sold for income to pay for their #children's school and health fees and #drought-related expenses. They lamented and asked us to help them acquire a #livestock #farmhouse in their community to protect their livestock from environmental hazards or accidents. According to them, they lose their livestock almost weekly in similar accidents. This is another clear #responsibility of #milestone achievement that we (WAV) have placed on our desks to achieve. This is a mantra for Wuntira Agribusiness Ventures - WAV: to discover and create #business opportunities in rural communities to improve rural #livelihoods. We are open to #collaborating and #partnering with any interested organization or individual who would like to invest in or help #build a farmhouse to house these livestock for this community and other communities. #foodsecurity #ruraldevelopment #resilience #livestock #farmhouse #nutrition #businessdevelopment

How’s this for tranquility on a Friday! Farmer Rod has decided to give up sheep farming, as you maybe read here in Feb. All the yows were sold in spring, with the gimmers and tups to go at the right time of year. That time is now. The gimmers were all sold this week and are now living on Islay. They arrived safely last night, and here are the ladies settling in. 🥰 The tups have another ten days then they’ll be off to auction. All of this is blooming emotionally challenging. Now, clearly it’s not nearly such a big deal as family illness, bereavement or any such huge life challenges, and I’m certainly not suggesting it is. It has, however, been a fascinating study in how farming works. The cynical among us often think that farmers are only there for the cash. (The accountant knows better as there’s often no cash!) But watching dad wrestling with this is really interesting. He’s ready to retire. He’s made the decision himself. He’s pleased with his decision. BUT These sheep are his mates, in a weird way. He spent days and days with them. Watched them being born, growing and developing their own personalities. The quiet one, the rascal, the grump. He knows them really well. He cares for them. They’re the reason he has got up many’s a morning before the sun, and stood in a field, or shed, watching them live out their days with us. Farming isn’t what he does. It’s who he is. But off they go, and it’s the right decision even if those days of farewells are a bit wobbly. He’s so chuffed with the homes they have found. The yows are happy in Aberdeenshire and the gimmers have a field with a view as you see! And Dday is a week on Wed when all the tups are offered for sale. Fingers crossed they find good homes too And then? Who knows …. So for my farming clients, please know that if I gently suggest a change in direction, I know it’s never just about the cash…. It’s about passion It’s about heritage It’s about identity We understand that at Saffery, I promise you that. #highlandaccountant #farmingaccountant

Tips for selling cattle this Spring The Irish Farmers Journal has tips for farmers looking to sell cattle to generate income in the next few weeks. 👉 Consider selling strong stores now to generate cashflow for other inputs while beef prices continue to provide solid returns for good-quality cattle. 👉 Target lighter stores for grass buyers in April as demand increases in the market with buyers sourcing animals for grazing. 👉 Offload barren and problem autumn cows to prioritise grass for more productive animals. 👉 Selling spring-calving cows that lose a calf is a more cost effective option than buying in calves to foster. 👉 Consider selling late-calving spring cows if they are out of sync with the rest of the herd as it streamlines management tasks on farm. 🚜 If you are a farmer looking to develop your farm and live close to Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union, contact us today on ☎️ 090 647 2497 and we can talk through your funding options over the phone or visit https://buff.ly/42K8Oy3 for more information. #FarmerFriendlyFinance #Cultivate #ACCU #CreditUnion
