Calling on Corporate Partners: Help Us Support Teens and Tweens at Halton Women's Place At Halton Women's Place, we provide a safe haven not only for women but also for their children, including tweens and teens. This summer, 27 children, including teens, are staying with us, and we’re working hard to create a space where they can feel at home during this challenging time. Our teen room is currently underutilized due to a lack of resources. We’re reaching out to our community of corporate partners to help us transform this space into a welcoming and comforting environment. We are seeking support in the form of new teen-related items such as books, sports equipment, video game consoles, games, and furniture. Your contribution can help us make this room a place where teens can relax, unwind, and feel like themselves again. How Your Business Can Make a Difference: By donating these essential items, your company can have a direct and positive impact on the lives of teens who are navigating incredibly difficult circumstances. Together, we can provide them with a sense of normalcy and comfort that is so vital during their stay. Didn’t have the word “spanx” on my bingo card when I signed up for the Kansas City Business Journal annual State of Philanthropy. But this group always keeps it interesting! I love the perspective of meeting your people where they are (a great lesson whether you’re in fundraising or not), specifically when it comes to generational differences. Some of my favorite nuggets: - Philanthropic giving is up 40% for millennials - Baby Boomers/Silent Generation give based on legacy. Millennials/GenX give based on their impact. - Behaviors are shifting. People are priotizing their time differently now, after the pandemic. They don’t necessarily want to go to big galas (hence the Spanx!) but want to find meaningful ways to contribute to their communities. - As we evaluate our philanthropic giving, we are looking at it as an investment versus a donation.
