Nice to see our paper focused on sociodemographic factors in #chronic #pain management with #virtualreality #VR delivered therapy getting some press. https://lnkd.in/gWTCk8YV The article emphasizes the fact that #RelieVRx engagement is higher in seniors; definitely an important finding. Equally important is the fact that we see strong clinical effectiveness, therapeutic engagement, and device usability across age, gender, race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status.

Over the past few months, I have read over 20 articles on building a supportive community for seniors. 99% were not very insightful. They should have focused more on practical solutions. Thrilled to share our new publication in PLOS ONE! 📄✨ Our study explored the acceptance of VR physical activity games among long-term care residents. It was the qualitative phase of a mixed-methods study that delved into the unique experiences of older adults and LTC staff members with VR exergames and examined the factors influencing their acceptance. We found that VR gaming offers significant physical, cognitive, social, and motivational benefits for LTC residents. Personalized programs and proper guidance are crucial in enhancing VR acceptance and engagement, with social connection playing a key role in promoting VR enjoyment. Our research underscores the importance of designing inclusive VR technology that meets the needs of older adults. I want to give special thanks to my supervisors, Dr. Jeff Jutai and Dr. Roanne Thomas, who are also co-authors, for their invaluable guidance and support. There are tons of ways that the games above (and more) help with making healthcare for veterans more engaging and sociable. Based on his research, Joe has been able to create or recommend programs that help with acute pain, mindfulness, mirror therapy, and more! Check out Waya Health for more about what they do. They are a force multiplier in modernizing healthcare for vets! VR headset availability is dependent on the VA facility, potentially in recreational therapy, art therapy, or in some cases whole health.
