HySA Infrastructure CoC at NWU is leading the development of green H2 production via water electrolysis, its components and storage in LOHC. Their strategy is to develop technology locally and to partner with OEMs.
HySA Infrastructure is co-hosted by NWU and CSIR and serves as a Centre of Competence (CoC) with the goal of becoming a leading African authority in hydrogen production, specifically electrolytic hydrogen linked to solar resources. HySA Infrastructure CoC focuses on hydrogen compression, storage, and delivery, working closely with OEMs, investors, local and
international research institutions. Their mission is to establish strong scientific and business cases through advanced TRL research, development, demonstration activities, and international collaborations such as SATREPS and Clean Hydrogen Partnerships. This includes knowledge creation, technology demonstration, stakeholder partnerships, and promoting the use of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), green hydrogen, and ammonia in various applications, including the mining sector.
