SAP doesn’t need to be a leader in AI—yet SAP is embedded in approx 60 percent of the world’s largest companies, and it is their core responsibility to make the core of these businesses work (the majority still have enough to do with getting the migrations completed to s/4 done). Sure, AI in its current form adds value to some of them, top executives say they have it on the agenda for 2025, but it won’t be big adoption in these companies yet. Based on what I have seen the last 20 years in those big firms, although the value that AI and Automation brings is potentially enormous, however the reality shows there is only a very small part of these firms experimenting with new innovative technologies, and broader adoption will follow 3-5 years behind the initial hype, and for that SAP doesn’t need to be a leader in AI right now. SAP is clearly not know as an innovator or disruptor, but SAP has the capacity and liquidity to become a leader through acquisition of other leaders in the space like SAP LeanIX SAP Signavio WalkMe™ and with such a strong customer base, they will provide the value their customers need when they need it (together with their vast eco system).

At SAP Daily, we serve thousands of Customers Worldwide, CXOs, and IT leaders across all industries. As the trusted voice for SAP resources, our message to our customers is clear: Joule offers no business value, no measurable impact, and zero ROI. Businesses deserve better.

Ultimately, it's all about the specific use cases that are most important to you or your company. While partner software vendors like the above mentioned can significantly contribute by filling gaps in your technology stack, the journey begins with a deep understanding of your company's unique needs and how SAP's solutions can address them. Identifying those gaps requires a collaborative effort involving not just SAP and these strategic Software vendor partners but also crucial contributions from consulting and implementation partners. These partners possess in-depth industry knowledge and expertise to help you navigate the complexities of SAP solutions and effectively leverage the capabilities of the broader technology ecosystem.

When I saw joule for the first time , I exactly felt this. I feel these days even if you put AI behind a toothpaste it sells more - seems, unfortunately it has become a marketing strategy more than a genuine persuit of improving a good product.

Great point! Melorine Parsy, many companies treat AI like a plug-and-play game console, but to truly benefit, you need to leverage the expertise of SAP's Partner ecosystem. Partners bring the skills needed to unlock AI's full potential and drive real business outcomes.

Fixed your strap line - “88% of business leaders realise SAP isn’t an AI/ML innovator and is just hoping to piggy back on their partner program.”

SAP’s strength lies in being the backbone of enterprise operations, not necessarily leading AI innovation right now. With its robust ecosystem and strategic acquisitions SAP has the potential to integrate cutting-edge AI when its customers are ready to adopt it more broadly.
