My biggest challenges as a one-man business owner are: 1. Self-accountability 2. Doubting my decisions 3. Imposter syndrome 4. Being clear on my goals 5. Time management 6. Setting priorities 7. Marketing my offer This is how I combat these: 1. Reward myself only after taking action. 2. Have a peer group (or mentor) to validate decisions. 3. Celebrate my wins daily, weekly and monthly. 4. Reduce my goals to the top 3 for the next year. 5. Finish my day by setting 3 goals for tomorrow. 6. Always ask myself: what's the best next step? 7. Pay for knowledge or implementation. Running your own business means you have to wear lots of hats, but maybe, at the moment, none of them are the Crown you should be rocking as the Boss of your own empire! Seriously though, it can be overwhelming juggling strategy director, marketing executive, logistics manager, secretary, bookkeeper, social media manager….and the list goes on. It's easy to get bogged down in all the day-to-day admin that comes with running a business. Before you know it, you're spending more time putting out fires and playing catch-up than focusing on the big picture and guiding your empire to greatness. Wearing all those hats is part of the gig but at a certain point, you have to ask yourself - is this the best use of my time and talents? Shouldn't I be spending more time developing strategy, networking, and getting the clients? Maybe it’s time to offload some of those time consuming tasks that you can’t, won’t or shouldn’t be doing and see your Queendom can reach its full potential! What hat do you most dread wearing?

Here are 7 types of relationships that will change your career–and your life: 1/ Customers (current and former): These are people that have already bought from you. You should be strengthening these relationships, even when they’re inactive because they may soon be in a situation to buy from you again—or serve as a source of referrals or as a reference. 2/ Prospects: There are likely many people who “could” someday be a customer but aren’t today. Get to know them, so when they’re ready to buy, you’ll be top of the list and front of mind. 3/ Mentors: Mentors are people you can learn from. Just because you may have completed your formal education doesn’t mean you’re done learning. Seek out people who are ahead of you in their career or who have expertise you seek to develop, and build a connection. 4/ Peers: Remember how important it was in high school to have study buddies in every class—someone who shared notes, helped you out when things got tough and kept you laughing? You still need people like that—these are people at about your level, in similar roles to yours, both inside and outside your organization. You can bounce ideas off them, ask them questions too mundane for mentors and compare notes. 5/ Referral sources (upstream): Some people will never be in a position to hire you but know lots of prospective clients and have good relationships with them. Often they are upstream—meaning a customer buys from them before they would buy from you. For example, if you’re a decorator, it might be helpful to have architects and realtors as referral sources. 6/ Support sources (downstream): You will look better if you can anticipate the future needs of your client and have the connections to help them. Decorators need to be able to recommend painters, carpet installers, and handymen. 7/ Mentees: It’s more than good karma that justifies finding people coming up in their careers behind you. Mentees force you to explain your logic and how you do things, which often helps you clarify your own strategy. You might be surprised by what you learn from them since they are establishing their approach at a different time. I was a Jill of all trades at one point and it was extremely frustrating. I had a bunch of side hustles, opened up quite a few businesses from restaurants to online boutiques. And I always was ready to hop to the next thing. Eventually I grew tired of being in my own way. One day I sat down and wrote down my goals, my skills and my where I wanted to be and want business I wanted to launch. That later became my business plan, mission statement and vision for The Browtique. Today I have a successful beauty business that has been thriving for almost seven years. I’m a firm believer you have to start with one thing then build on that. Do not get side tracked with your many gifts, skills or talents. They will come to use once you start with one thing. So what happens when you reach $100K?🤔 A lot of coaches think that once they get there, they've made it. But here's the thing—we don't stop at $100K.📣 If we’re truly here to make an impact, there will be other things we want to invest in. Just stopping at $100K won't give you the resources you need. Want to write a book? You'll need to hire a book coach, invest in publishing, and more. Thinking about bringing on a team? You'll need a VA or someone to help with marketing strategy. What a signiture talk? Or a larger community to spread your message? Or support so your business can run without you while you take a vacay? All of these things require resources. ✅ Your expenses will increase as your business grows. So, it’s important to aim for $100K and beyond. This way, you have overflow, creating a profitable and sustainable business. Boss or Employee: Should You Run the Show or Stay in the Wings? 😥 Did you know? Many people wonder if it's better to own a business or work for someone else. I've thought a lot about this because of my job experiences. As an employee, I do a lot of work that even my bosses don't handle. I'm also expected to be available even when I'm on leave, answering calls and messages about work. This makes me think about owning a business. Sure, it might mean being available all the time, which sounds even harder than my current job. But owning a business could also mean making more money and being my own boss. If I'm already handling so much at work, maybe I could run my own business too, even a small one. Being a business owner could not only give me a better paycheck but also let me control my work and feel good about what I do. So, why not go for it and use my skills to build something great for myself? What do you think about choosing between these two paths?
