Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we stand together to raise awareness about a condition that affects millions of people globally. As I myself involved in Alzheimer’s research, I see firsthand the devastating impact this disease has, not only on those diagnosed but also on their families and caregivers. Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s. Through my own work, I aim to contribute to early detection methods and innovative solutions to slow the progression of this disease. Alzheimer’s disease is not just a medical challenge—it’s a societal one, calling for our collective effort in supporting research, sharing knowledge, and ensuring care for those affected. Let’s continue to drive hope, research, and compassion as we work towards a future where Alzheimer’s can be detected early, treated effectively, and, one day, cured. #WorldAlzheimersDay #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaResearch #EarlyDetection #ADICare #ArtificialIntelligence M. “We need more emphasis on shared decision making and that also implies a lot of emphasis on information provision.” Wiesje van der Flier At the heart of the Rethinking #Alzheimer's Disease Perspective Paper is the patient-centered philosophy. We advocate for a paradigm shift that prioritises the needs, values and experiences of people living with Alzheimer’s and their families. This entails early and accurate detection and diagnosis, using a personalised approach – the right treatment for the right person at the right time - and most innovative or advanced treatment plans, shared decision-making and holistic care strategies.
